![]() ------ I am cold. The snow and frost layers over me like a blanket. Not a very warm blanket at the least, but enough to keep me hidden from the terrors of the outside world. I miss my family. They are all I have ever known, and possibly all I ever WILL know know until I die. I don't usually try to sleep in harsh weather like this, but I have been running for too long, and I consider taking a rest to bring back some of my strength. Slowly, as my eyelids close over my cold and dry eyes, I fade away from reality, and into a total new world of exhaustion. ------ Chapter 1 I wake up with a sudden jolt. 5 inches of snow has covered me, and my whole body is shivering. I yawn quietly, trying not to disturb some other unlucky hungover mice as they babble drunken words and curses to one another. A fresh smell of mint and cinnamon enters my nose, and I am drawn to the scent of a magical cake shop. I check my pockets in my jacket quickly, only to find I have just a few pennies; obviously not enough to fill my already growling stomach. I shrug and start walking, but I stop again and collapse from hunger. Strangers eye me from over the street, and try to avoid all contact with me whatsoever. After gasping several times for air, three young mice sprint up to me with concerned looks on their faces. "Mister, what are you doing on the floor?" asks a small white mouse. His blue eyes sparkle and glint in the sunlight. "I don't think you should be down here!" I manage a small grunt in response, but the three stay by my side until some adults come along to help me up. "Are you okay, Mister?" calls the white mouse. I nod slowly and start walking, but this mouse has no intention of letting me walk away just like that. "Mister, wait up!" he complains. He trips over his scarf trying to catch up with me. "Go home kid." I growl back at him. The mouse shakes his head firmly. "No Mister, I am coming with you!" he demands. I roll my eyes as his friends call out. "Kai, come back here! You cant just walk off with a stranger! He might be acting!" they shout. "Watch me!" the mouse cries out. With that, the kid bounds up to my side again and keeps walking with me. I chuckle at his sense of demanding attention, but I continue to ignore him. After a while, my legs get heavy again, and I sit down to rest. A long moment of silence passes me and the kid, until he can bear it no longer. "Mister, what is your name?" he asks quietly. I pause, purse my lips awkwardly, then end up sighing. "My name is Shadebluhart. Shade for short. But I am also called Kai for some strange reason." The kid looks at me like he just saw a ghost. "AWWEEESOMEE!!" he shouts. "So we both have the same name?! Oh my god, this cant be a coincidence! No no no!" The boy dances around in excitement, a huge smile spread across his face. Again, I chuckle. True, it is strange to be helped by a boy who amazingly had the same name as you, but it was also very odd. Why would he just blindly walk up to me like that and declare to all that, no matter what, he was going to go with me. "Kid, why don't you go back home? I'm sure your family is very worried about you right now." I explain, hoping he will listen and do what he is told. He stops dancing, then looks down in silence. His face then takes on several emotions in a row. Sad, hurt, nearly crying, dispair. I decide to leave him alone and keep quiet. "Mister.. Are you a cold heart?" the boy asks after a while. "Yes, I am." I reply sourly. I wouldn't of thought such a young boy could identify me by name and looks, or even know what a cold heart was. "My mamma told me not to be around cold hearts, or else they might kill you.." He fades off. "But I said that there is always good in someones heart, no matter what!" "Well your thoughts are correct." I say. "I was brought up differently to normal cold hearts. I was raised with love and kindness. Now it's all gone." "..Well it'll be okay, Mister. You have me!" squeaked the boy. What he does next is unexpected. He crawls over to me and nuzzles his way into my arms. After a while, I hear light snoring. And I am shocked to admit that in our very short seemingly friendship, this kid is warming up to me, and I love it. The sun rises above my face slowly whilst I sigh deeply, not caring if any other animals or preditors walk past. I am clearly seen in the snow, my dark fur obviously spotted even in a dense woodland. But there is something I do not understand. This "Kai" or whatever his name actually was, seemed very familiar with me. I cant pin point it, but I swear I've met him before. I don't know how or when, but in the sunlight, his outline glows blue, almost like he isn't there.. ------ END OF CHAPTER 1. Do you like it so far? Bearing in mind I am still very busy with art, I will not be able to put in another chapter today. I hope I can continue writing on this forum for you! |

Shadebluhart a dit : well I'll tell you what, people read but don't reply. A lot of the fan-fics in this subforum are really good but they still get no replies. What I'm trying to say is people still read it, they just don't reply. It's not because your fan-fic is terrible, so don't be discouraged! |

Well lets make a deal for you guys. Two chapters a day? Sounds okay to me tbh. ------ CHAPTER 2 - WARNING - SLIGHT VIOLENCE AND SWEARING <3 ------ The heat from the sun plasters itself onto my face, and I am forced to take off my jacket. I have no idea what the time is, but I guess it's somewhere around noon. Kai is still cuddling into me, and I start to wonder whats going on inside his tiny head. I notice glasses beside his scarf. Tinted blue. Nice. I scan the boy up and down quickly. Now that I come to think of it, he is pretty much all blu, except for his fur of course. Pitty, he'd look nice with some pink on him. I chuckle whilst in thought of a pink and white mouse. But not too far behind me, I hear whispers. I whip my head around in confusion. I cant see who's whispering, but every now and then, the whispers get louder. "Oi, whos there?" I call out cautiously. No reply, only more whispering. Suddenly, as quick as a lightning bolt, red and green eyes pop out from bushes. I jolt my whole body back from surprise and growl deeply. "Who are you?" asks the green-eyed mouse. "You're not from here, are you?" I growl louder as these two mice come closer to me. I find myself holding onto Kai, like I was a father protecting a son. "Get away from me you freaks!" I warn. "You don't wanna be getting into contact with these seriously sharp teeth." The red-eyed mouse laughs a little under her breath, and I feel like I should tear her throat out. So I do. I lunge at her neck and bite down. She has no one to call out to in time, and the green-eyed mouse stares in horror. "W-what are you?!" he cries out. I see fear in his eyes. "I am not someone you want to be friends with." I reply casually. I have no time to explain what I just did. He gulps, terrified to of witnessed death of his friend, and legs it into the direction of the village I just came out of. Probably going to look for some help, I suspect. I sigh and glance at the floor. If Kai wakes up now, he'll question what happened, and I'll be in some deep shit. So I scoop up the white mass of fur, pick up his glasses and start walking again. It is nearly nightfall when I decide to stop walking. My legs don't hurt, but my belly aches and I look for food. I manage to find some blackberries and strawberries good enough to eat. Kai stirrs in his sleep and yawns in my face loudly. I totally forgot he was in my arms, and he ends up poking my eye with his paws. "Ow! Watch where you're puttin' your hands, dude." I moan. Kai giggles in reply and bounces around happily. "Did I miss anything, Mister?" he asks curiously. "Um.. No, not at all." I fade off. Kai wipes off something stuck to my chin. Blood. I start panicking inside. "What's this?" he asks again, but this time more seriously. "Um.." I look around frantically. "Strawberries?" I hold up a half-eaten berry and pop it into my mouth. "Oooh!" he exclaims. "Can I have some?!" I nod and give him a handfull. I watch the way he eats. First, he picks up the food and sniffs it, almost like there was something wrong with it. Then, once he finally thinks it's safe enough, he eats it. Funny.. I think to myself. I used to do that when I was a kid.. I let the thought pass, and decide to build a quick fire. The flames lick at the snow, melting everything it touches. Soon enough, a full moon comes into view, and I am drawn into its beauty and glittery effects. I stare for a while, taking in the warmth my fire has to offer me. "Mister.. Do you like the moon?" asks Kai. "Yes, I do. It's beautiful." I reply. Kai looks at me slowly, then back at the moon. "It reminds me of my sister." he says quietly. "She used to get me to sleep, just like the moon. But then she went away with my mom, and I've never heard from them since.." I notice a slight edge in Kais voice, almost like he was about to cry. I admit that I too considered my sister as the moon in the sky, and that I also ran away from home. I quickly understand a flowing pattern forming in my head. Was this kid supposed to be with me? I gaze quietly at the fire, trying to take my mind off of the loss of my family. Tears well up in my eyes, but I force my emotions back down just in case Kai sees. "Hey, kid..? What's your sister called?" I ask slowly. Kai looks at me dead straight in the eye. "Her name is Jaycie." My heart shatters. "Heh, that's funny. My sisters name is Jaycie, too." I say back. That's it. I cant bear it any longer, and I black out instantly. Fuck. --------- END OF CHAPTER 2. Ewww okay thats it for today. Very busy tomorrow with my room, but I will be sure to write the next two chapters. <3 |

SORRY I NEVER POSTED YESTERDAY. I WAS BUSY AND VERY SICK. ------ Chapter 3 ------ I feel like crying. My whole body is torn apart. Blood splatters cover the floor. People lay moaning beside me, caught up in chains and stocks. What sort of dream is this? I feel like I should be paying attention to the people around me, but my head hurts too much and I am far too busy worrying about my ripped up torso and legs. I want to scream at my head for making me think this up, but I find that I cannot speak. What is this? Darkness. That's what this is. A world of misery and torture, which only the brain could come up with in times of stress. I beg myself to wake up, but it's no use. I just have to wait until my brain says it's morning, I guess. I'd like to think that I look peaceful whilst sleeping, but I doubt it very much. But what if Kai is watching? What if Kai isn't asleep?! Ohhh crap! I scream as loud as I can to get me out of this painful dream. Red eyes dart towards me and glare like I'm a bad smell that wont go away. Growling can be heard not even 2 centimeters away from me. As claws grab hold of me and dig down, inflicting damage, I manage two loud words out of my bleeding mouth. "NOT TODAY." I sit up and gasp for air. That was horrific. I'd hate to have another dream like that, honestly. Kai sleeps soundlessly next to me, huddled up in my jacket. I smile gently, a fond feeling starting to weigh down on my cold heart. This couldn't be me in the past. No way. It just seems too crazy for a guy like me. Maybe I'm sick or something? Nope. Doesn't seem like me at all in the slightest. I sigh. This is so confusing. Again, I feel like crying. This isn't as bad as the nightmare, but it still hurts. I look around the area I use as a campsite for a bit. It is beautiful, in my opinion. Big leaves shelter tiny cold animals as the snow falls down silently. The still alive and burning flames in my fire attracts lost mice over, and I let them use whatever heat there is left to warm themselves up as they thank me for my kindness. I nod quietly and try to get back to sleep, but the beauty of this area is so amazing. I want to live here if I can, but I doubt I'd survive on just berries. The moon is still in sight, glowing on my cold face. My thoughts instantly flicker to my sister Jaycie. The way she calmed me down at night when I was smaller. Her hugs, her warmth. Her in general. I miss her. I miss mom. I miss dad. I miss everyone. What have I done to deserve this treatment. I could be at home in bed, sleeping comfortably with warmth. But no. I cant have that. I have to be stuck with this annoying little kid who is literally like a twin brother, and I have no idea where to go or what to do. As the sun comes up, the lost and thankful mice go to find other places to rest, and I am left with Kai. He yawns several times, indicating that he is going to wake up soon. I use this time wisely to go off and find more berries. I find a new berry which they call a blueberry. Practically tasteless, but still food. Food is food, no matter what. When I get back, I find a soaking wet Kai, jumping about from foot to foot and slightly annoyed because he rolled OFF my jacket and INTO the snow, making it melt under him. "Pleast mister, pick me up!" he cries. "No way dude, you're gonna have to travel by foot now." I reply smugly. His lower lip trembles, like he was about to cry, but I wave his efforts away and cook the berries on the what little fire I have left. "So, today kid." I start. "We're gonna go into a town and see if we can sell some stuff we don't need, okay?" Kai nods, although his facial expression tells me he thinks this is going to be absolute shit. I find myself laughing at him whilst he growls and nearly has a temper tantrum. "You're not very easy to please, are you?" I laugh harder as he gets increasingly frustrated with my actions. I bend over and pick up my slightly wet but still warm jacket and put it on. "Come on stupid, we better get going." Kai nods like he doesn't care, but I doubt he'd like to get lost in these woods. We walk for a bit, taking in our surroundings. Not only is the weather calming down, but I can finally see where I'm going without getting a face full of snow and frost. Something growls loudly behind me. It's not Kai. "Uh.. Mister?!" calls out Kai. His face is filled with terror. "RUN." I cannot make it in time. "MISTER." WHACK. I slump to the ground, knocked out. My vision goes blurry almost instantly. All I can say is: "Not again.." ------ EHH, END OF CHAPTER 3. NOW ONTO 4. |

Chapter 4 o/ ------ This is pissing me off. A lot. I am slightly cold without my jacket, and as usual, I think I am alone. Kai is nowhere to be seen. All that I can see is several curtains, a drip and a desk. Great, I'm in a hospital. Several medics and doctors rush past me, tending to other injured people. I look to my right and notice a pretty girl checking on my blood level. She doesn't know I'm awake, but she doesn't look like a doctor either. I groan and turn onto my side, trying to avoid eye contact. Bad mistake. The side I turn on is the side I fell on. I am now fully concious and flinching in pain. "Hoooly hell, that hurts." I moan. The girls ears perk up and she calls over some doctors. "Shade, are you alright?" asks a doctor. I growl at him harshly. Heh, this scene looks and sounds familiar. I grunt in reply and sit up. I also notice that my head has started throbbing. The girl tries to reach out for me, but she is pushed out of my room. I hear faint muffled yelling and curse words, and then the quiet click of a door. Probably sent out, poor girl. The doctors work on me for half an hour or so, doing blood tests and checking on my bones. All this attention makes me feel uncomfortable and almost sets me off in a rant of demanding how I got here. When I ask where Kai is, the doctors say they saw no one else with me when they brought me in. I sigh. He's probably out there in the snow and frost hiding. Probably ran off scared and shocked. When the doctors finish with me, I ask that the girl who was here previously could be brought back in because her company was calming. A few minutes later, the girl comes back in, but she has two other people with her. One is tall and slim and has the same fur as me, whilst the other has bright white fur and brown long hair. They stare at me like I'm a freak, so I turn my back on them. "Shade." says the man. His voice is heavily accented. I glance back at the group and growl. Two soft hands are on my eyepatch, slowly taking it off. Of course, one eye is missing, but I don't mind. The girl seems to mind though. She turns me around and gasps. Why is she so worried about me? Instead, I focus on the man. His eyes are piercingly white and blue, but they soften up when he looks back at me. Confused, I look at his hair style. Black, thick. Slightly curly, but otherwise straight. A little like my hair, to be honest. Then it hits me. I look to my left and study myself in a mirror. An ugly scar is clearly seen above and below my gauged out eye socket. My other eye is staring at itself and its colour. Rich and blue, sort of like a crystal. Then I check my hair. Messy and torn up, but black as the night. I look back at the man, and then myself. Back. Forth. Back. Forth. I hit myself for not knowing who this man is. After a serious look at him, I give up and turn to the girl. Dark brown and warm eyes, black hair, slightly long. Thin but small body. And of course, taller than me. There is something about her that strikes me as familiar. No. It cant be. Fear and hope settles in my bloodstream. Finally, I look at the woman. Her arm is locked around the mans arm, but her other is free, and easy to look at. Small, like the girls. Brown hair and blue eyes. Innocent looking and fairly tall. Again, she looks familiar. I want to cry out in anger because I SHOULD know these people but I DON'T know these people. Then I notice something to my right. Tucked up and hiding under my cover is a small cuddly orange fox. "Mister..?" calls out a voice. Kai has appeared on my left, but no one else seems to notice him, so I ignore him for now. I take a look at the 3 mice standing before me. I point at the girl and she blinks like she is slapped in the face. "You." I say firmly. "How old are you?" She pauses for a bit, then replies casually: "14, why are you asking?" She giggles at me quietly. "Surely, you've not forgotten your own sister, Kai?" |

HI GUUYYYS. How was your Christmas? EHH?! ----------- Chapter 5 ----------- Yes, this scene is very familiar indeed. I want to cry again. But not with sadness. Happiness. I'm happy that I have found the family I belong to. Jaycie hugs me tightly, like I've been gone forever. It probably seems like that. But there is something serious about the way she looks at me. Is she angry at me? I'll never know, but oh well. My dad also hugs me, but his cuddles are softer and calm. My mom decides to give me a kiss on cheek instead. I don't mind, its just as good. We sit in silence for a bit, taking in the fact that this is possibly the longest we've all been in one room together. I feel slightly uneasy, but I guess its just me worrying. after all, I've literally just got my family back, and I am grateful. The doctors never check on my eye, since its in perfect condition and health, but they seem very concerned about my other missing one. I tell them I'm fine, but they take no excuses and do a full checkup on me. After a bit, I get tired and ask to go home. The doctors still worry about me a little, but my sisters pleading eyes are no match for their now unmanly hearts. I am taken back home safely with a rather sore head, but who cares? When I get back home, I gasp. It's changed massively since the last time I was here. Everything is new. Colours, furniture, styles. I check out each room to try and get used to it all. Then I walk up to my room. A feeling of nostalgia enters me as I look around the crammed area. This is the only room that hasn't changed. Cute cuddlies are in a pile in a corner. My bed is far to small to fit me in anymore. My midget blanket is crumpled up on my closet. A note is stuck to the covers of my bed. It reads: Kai We miss you. You never had to run away, and it pains us to know you are most likely cold and suffering. Please come back home. -Mom and Dad. I start to feel bad as horrible memories flood my head. Disturbed, I go back downstairs and try my luck for some food. It's almost pitch black outside now, and I find myself worrying about Kai again. Did he stay at the hospital? I miss his small warm body. His smartass remarks. All of him. I have no one like me to talk to now. Suddenly, a small glow appears out of no where. Kai vaporizes right in front of me, and I cry out in shock. "You followed me all the way here?!" I stutter. Kai nods and hugs me. "Yes, I was worried about you mister." he replies quietly. I sigh and cuddle him slowly. His warmth makes me feel all tingly inside. We talk for a bit, catching up on recent stories and happenings, but we are interrupted by Jaycie and mom. "Uhm.." starts mom. "Who are you talking to, sweetheart?" she asks nervously. I nod my head towards Kai. Mom laughs awkwardly. "Haha.. Good one!" She sounds surprised. "But seriously?" I blink several times. "Can you not.. see him.. ?" I almost cry. A sound in my head forms like a dead person on a heart monitor. White line. I brush my fingers against Kai's soft blue hair. Mom gives me a concerned look and leans over to whisper to Jaycie. Strangly enough, I can hear everything they say. "I think he hit his head harder than I thought.. We should take him back to hospital.." she whines. Jaycie shoots a quick glance at me, then back to mom. "What I think we should do is ask dad if he knows anything about this." replies Jaycie subtly. Mom nods quickly and calls up dad. "Andres.. I think there's something wrong with Kai.." she says. Dad shakes his head and walks towards me. He looks me straight in the eye and asks: "Kai, what is it?" I point towards the now hugely glowing Kai, panicking that my family might think I'm crazy. Dad looks for a while and tickles Kai under his chin, just like he used to do to me when I was a kid. Nostaglia again. "So, you can see him?!" I exlaim excitedly. Dad nods and picks up Kai gently.. Then throws him. Kai refuses to move and stays in the air. "Urr, how dare you mister!" shouts out Kai. "You cant just try to throw me like that!" Dad chuckles and pulls Kai back down to me. "I can see him just fine, Kai." replies dad. I stare at him happily and Kai shouts insults at him. "Andres..?" mom starts again. "No more, Lesli. This is a normal thing for a cold heart." says dad sternly. Dad turns back to me and looks at me with his glass sharp eyes. "You are talking to your younger self, my son. Good job." |
