Have you ever tried to work with multiple projects in /Lua? Well, I have. And that's impossible. You would have to save somewhere on your computer, and find it when you want it, then copy-paste... It's a huge waste of time and you could lose some of them. So, I got an idea. Why wouldn't we have tabs for multiple projects, just like in Eclipse or some other IDE's. That way we could manage all projects and run the one we want without any difficulties.

Tabs in Eclipse:

Shamousey a dit :
I have a folder on my desktop aptly named "Lua" where I can save all of my Lua files and edit them with Notepad++, it's a lot more feature-full and useful for developing code than the /lua window. Similarly, I save important things onto my stypi.com account if need be.

I don't think there's a need for more tabs in the /lua editor, it's not meant for writing code. The only reason it ever got line numbers in the first place was for quick debugging, not to make it more like a full IDE.

Makinit a dit :
I suggest you don't depend on the Lua input screen to save your code. It saves to some kind of Flash cookie which is not as reliable as saving files yourself. This is just a game, it should not feature an IDE when there are better, dedicated solutions available.

(When looking at this forum, it wouldn't surprise me if Tig does actually implement this.)

The whole point of this suggestion is not having a full IDE. It's to make it easier. Wouldn't it be easier to open tabs with a click than opening the file on the computer, pasting it and you need to repeat this every time when you want to run a module.

/support.
I'd love to save different scripts without going on the Forum and finding it and pasting it into the lua box.

Although I do not use lua, this would benefit many other players.

/lua isn't really meant for you to work in it though. Don't see why you just can't use an IDE like 90% of other programmers?
Just watch where you save things, maybe even dedicate a folder to it, and all will be fine.

You should still store your code in actual files because storing it in Flash is less reliable. Implementing this will encourage players to not properly store their code, potentially resulting in losing it.

Also, you should be able to name the tabs.
