CAPTCHA when making a new account |

so recently there's lots of spambots spamming an incredibly annoying message, in which the whole message is blank but at the end is an advertisement for a hacked transformice server (i would report it to mods but no mods were online at that moment) (plus im pretty sure spambots can avoid ip address ban by resetting their ip address) so it would be pretty great if we had a small CAPTCHA thingy when you make new accounts to avoid annoying spambots if this was suggested before then apologies |

i don't think those are spambots, just people advertising from room to room. e; in that case, /support |

It's definitely not some random people manually creating accounts. Captcha's might help to make this process harder, but I recently learned not every captcha is equally secure. If this is to be implemented a balance should be found between security (hard to automatically answer) and player comfort (not too hard to answer by just reading it). |

Yes, they are spambots, and it's been confirmed they are spambots by staff. And yes, captcha would be awesome. |

very agreed also this might be a weird idea but w/e, to prevent existing accounts from getting turned into spambots maybe add something like the PIC for maplestory, where you have to enter an additional code on an on-screen keyboard that moves the keys around at random |

I would like to bring attention to this topic again. The bot spam has increased significantly in the past few weeks, today I'm seeing a bot spamming a room over and over again at almost 11pm ET. Usually most of the bots are active only during the day (for me), and this shows that the problem is getting very severe. Developers: If you don't add some sort of captcha protection to the game to deter the spambots, you may end up driving away players, losing them either to the annoyance of spam as a whole, or losing them to the pirate servers. So please seriously consider this as a top priority. And no, sending mods after this problem won't help, I assume even if a mod banned one of them, the script that controls the spambot would just obtain another IP, and continue making accounts. You have to put up an actual practical solution against them, and a captcha is the best option at this time. |

I seriously don't understand why this suggestion, which is something that the game urgently needs, keeps getting buried under less urgent and relevant items. And yes, today it's been even worse than yesterday. Room 1 is very difficult to chat in because of the constant attack of spam. There's one script running right now, that's even trying to masquarade as Sydoline, and advertising with the fact that the server in question allows inappropriate content... |
