I always seem to wonder if the person I am whispering, is typing back. Maybe it would be an idea if we had like "Sagewhisker is typing..." thing that came up each time they were typing, so we know they are going to reply??

You don't need to find out if the person is typing (or going to reply), it only takes them about 20 (or less) seconds to do it.

Why not? This can be helpful if you're AFK and your friend doesn't know.

We can tell if they're AFK or not, and we wont have to go angry at them just cuz u thought they were, yeah.

This is nice to know because this way you know if the person is going to respond to you. For example, you can tell when someone is ignoring you, and you can tell when they're back from being 'afk'.

I'm against this in any application, so also in TFM.

For one the 'is typing' notification can be quite misleading. I've more than once experienced people thinking I was writing them a large amount of text whereas actually I had accidentally pressed a key and tabbed out. This sort of notification doesn't differentiate in amounts of text. It simply checks if there's any characters in the text bar.

Secondly I experience this sort of notification to be stress inducing. I rather just get a reply over knowing a reply is coming without actually being able to read it yet. I suppose this is personal taste.

Lastly I don't see the need for this sort of notification. I can see it's use when people send really large amounts of text, but in TFM's case, you can only use so many characters before the message is capped, meaning it really shouldn't take that long in between messages.

/support Well, they should also add an /afk or /brb command which lets players know your AFK. When you do those commands, a pause screen might pop up or something.

It would be helpful to know when they are answering something, but is this only for whispering? This should work whenever a friend/tribemate types.

i was going for mainly whisper, but it could work with the tribe thing.

/half-support, I don't think it is needed very much, because if you are chatting with someone both of you will continue chatting and I'm sure if the one you are chatting with will be afk/brb he will say to you....

Sometimes when you're in survivor or even deathmatch, Nobody will care. But thats not my full point. When you're typing maybe even the shaman can kill you.

the way you can switch inputting from whispers to tribe channel to chat channel to room channel right now would break a "user is typing" system (you can do "/t blahblahblah" inside a whisper tab and it will send to tribe chat instead try it)
so... unless major changes are made to the chat system, this wouldn't be feasible to just tack onto tfm.
