This isn't fun and votebans are pretty much powerless since they can just do it in a different room. It's toxic behavior and because mods won't ban for it (I don't expect them to) it has no real consequences.

I would hardly call favoring "toxic behavior." It's just friends helping friends get the first. If you get noticeably upset about something as innocent as that, then you care way to much about that first. I honestly have fun trying to steal the balloon or whatever method it is in the sham trying to favor a mouse. The only thing you miss out on is a first once every few rounds, which depending on the mice in the room, you had a good chance of not getting it anyway.

If its getting out of hand, vote ban them using /ban playername. Do not abuse this though, abusing vote ban is probaly likely to ban yourself.

If votebans do not get rid of the people that favoritise eachother, then the majority of the players in the room has no problem with their behaviour. Consider changing the room and play somewhere else.

I'd assume that the majority of players are simply unaware of /ban or don't know that they are allowed to use it to get rid of favos; not that they have no problem with favoritism.

The problem isn't getting first or not. I understand that the game is hardly fair at times, what with many rounds being won by whoever has the lowest ping and other random factors like that, but when shamans intentionally ruin a map and the experience for everyone and AREN'T punished it just creates a toxic environment that should not be encouraged.

I hardly care about firsts, my first ratio has been 6% for years and I don't see it changing any time soon. But I agree that it ruins the round when someone does this. The whole basis of transformice is that we all blindly rush towards the cheese and then towards the hole in the slim hopes of obtaining a first. When you don't get first, you're not heartbroken (hopefully) because you gave it your best effort and someone who was better than you won instead, and this is encouragement to do better next time and maybe practice in bootcamp a bit in order to hone your skills. When the shaman uses favoritism, this all goes away. The winner may as well have hacked to get that first because hacking by definition for this game is something that gives someone an unfair advantage over everyone else. I always /mort on these rounds because for one I don't believe the shaman deserves to get a save from me, and two because the fun has been completely sucked out of the round by this favoritism. It's one thing when someone gets first way ahead of everyone else because of some glitch or simply by their own luck or skill because that still has some factor of amusement. But there is no amusement factor when they won ahead of everyone else because the shaman intentionally gave them a balloon (or nowadays, teleported them).

This being said, I don't believe that favoritism should be treated with the same severity as hacking is for obvious reasons. However, it should absolutely not be encouraged. As with hacking, the arguement posed is that anyone could do it so it doesn't really matter - but that logic leads to every single first in rounds where favoritism is possible to be taken by a friend of the shaman. And that is not a transformice that I would like to be a part of.

TL;DR: Favoritism ruins transformice, do the game a favor and /ban both parties involved.

Needless to say I agree completely. The problem is /ban only kicks them away from the current room, which means they can keep doing it on another room, which just brings the negative experience to another group of people.

I don't see any other way to fix this besides reverting the change made to /ban.

I disagree with this statement. Transformice is much much more than just trying to get firsts. Favoritising only affects getting firsts, but this means there are much more features which are not affected by this issue and which can be very enjoyable.

Yeah I agree that that was an unfortunate change, I understand that it was being abused but I feel like there must have been a better way to fix that. But at least with how it is if the room actually bans them then we don't have to deal with their bullshit anymore, and hopefully the next room has the same sense to kick them out as well.

Then what do you think it's about? Get cheese, get to the hole, maybe get first seems to sum up transformice in its rawest form pretty well to me. But even if it's not what the game is all about it's still a big aspect of the game that is ruined by the simple act of ballooning someone.

Well except that you can use vote ban to kick them out to show that you're not going to put up with that crap, which is also what you can do for trolling by the way.

If you don't like a shaman, wait until the next map or go to a different room, or put them on your ignore list.

It's usually necessary if whatever the person was doing was bad enough to make the right amount of people vote to ban them.

Excuse me, but how would ignoring them help? Favoritism has nothing to do with the chat.

tinysocks, i implied this before on your previous thread: don't play in EN2.
also apathy of players in general is not helpful for countering favo. this was also brought up on the previous thread.

jenissse im sorry but you are a complete moron and it's people like you that cause votebans to not work. this post will likely get moderated for that comment i just made but i think it's valid.

if people just get up and leave, instead of combatting it, the problem will just keep growing.

I strictly play in the en1 vanilla rooms for the most part and it's unfortunately all too common there as well \:

Exactly. With how /ban currently works it may just push the problem to another room which is unfortunate, but once someone is kicked out of a room for their actions they may just realize that what they have done is not acceptable to other mice and stop doing it.
