I dunno about you guys, but some people I report I get very, very concerned about (Recently I reported someone who was harrassing a young girl for her real name, facebook, ect). I was thinking maybe when we logged on, if the person had been banned, we get a small popup that tells us that they have been to ease our worries.

Then again, I don't know what the cons of this would be. What do you guys think? It's changing nothing but showing us the person has been banned to ease worries. It's still up to the mods.

This would also probably ease the flood of "THE MODS AREN'T DOING THEIR JOBS", if they really are.

I just don't really see why you want to know if someone has been banned, I mean, wouldn't you notice that they're no longer there or they're no longer insulting someone?

Not if the person often changes rooms very often. EX: If the person was, as above, harrassing a certain player through whisper from multiple rooms, you would not know if they're gone or if they're still harrassing the person unless told. For more example: I've been dealing with a hacker for about a month. This person was going up through ranks ect by using hacks. They SEEM to have gone away but i'm not sure at all and it bothers me that they may still be running about using unfair tactics to support themselves.

It also provides peace of mind for those who were victimized by something, for example, harassment. Just because a bully is not around, doesn't mean he isn't coming back. Worse case scenario, someone quits or entirely avoids a room due to bullying (module, etc, for example if the game is more competitive and targeting is used; whereas the ignore feature would fail), and is unable to enjoy that room or module, trying to avoid said person. Should they hear their reports were acknowledged and the person is banned, they should feel more security in returning, and willingness to play.

You do get a notification if you use the report system, though? Or mods will tell you if a resolution has been met.

To the above: I have never been informed. Ever. Nor do the mods ever tell me if they've banned a person if i've reported them - it's too much trouble for them to tell everyone who's reported, "Hey, they're banned now!" The only time I know is if the person is in the room and is banned infront of me. Then I get the +1 Karma message. Otherwise, I do not. In the case of what I had to deal with right before I posted this thread, I would have greatly appreciated to know if this person is banned or not. I still have no idea.

From what I hear, the solution to your problem consists of several things.

First, if you put a player on the blacklist, he/she is unable to contact you in any way. You will not see any of their messages and they will not be able to send messages to you. If they may use alt accounts, another simple click of a button adds those alt accounts to the black list aswell.

Two, the easiest way to see if a person is online is to add this person to your friends list. This way you can see when and if this person logs in, or is logged in. That way you can keep an eye on him. Alternatively, you can use /profile [username] to see if the person is online. If he is indeed online, their profile will pop up. If he is offline, the profile will not show.

Third, you can track people's activity through their CFM profile. Even though this method is not water proof, you can tell if the person you're talking about has gathered cheese the past few days or if this person has not been active at all. If the person hasn't been active, he has either been banned or has quit the game.

I think these three steps together are a quite good (already existing) alternative to your suggestion. Rests me to say that even though you don't always get a response, moderators always try their best to handle as many reports as possible.

That's difficult to do for younger players. They may not know how the game works enough to be able to blacklist the person or they may be too scared to do so as it was when I was trying to help the younger girl. Yes, I may be able to keep an eye on the guy, but that does not help the other person in the situation at all unless the moderators do something or I can convince the person to blacklist them (which is hard to do for a younger player, as some of you may know). I also do not want to have to constantly check my profile questioning if a certain player is online or not when i'm trying to play the game. This just seems like an overly complex solution to a simple problem that younger players will not be able to utilize or understand. It also requires daysworth of checking if you do not check CFM to see if the person logs in or not on your friendslist.

This isn't really about me, it's more about the fact of convienice for younger players who don't know how to do this. If they're bullied, manage to report the person, but know none of these things, it's useless. Entirely.

This is geared (or was supposed to be) toward younger players. I think it's best we make it friendly for the younger players instead of assuming we can all check CFM, ect. No offense intended.
