I notice a lot of spam in Music room that consists of non-music videos and regurgitated viral media. The game mode is not always used for its intended purpose.

Here are two ways to potentially resolve this:

1. Remove the displayed video or move it off-screen. Players post spam to be viewed. We don't need videos to listen to music.

2. Rename the mode to Media. The new title would encompass what is already posted. Players join knowing what they are getting into.


Thoughts? If anyone would like to recommend another option please explain why.

If removing the video isn't an option, what about using Soundcloud or another site only for music?

That would just be extra unnecessary work for tig. Besides, it would not offer as much music as youtube does. Even if we use a music-only site, you will still not like most of the music because we all have very different tastes.

To be honest, I think that the mp3 links should be playable in music rooms even though they can be a bit glitchy. It would make sense because it would remove lag from videos for people who get lag from it. Also there would be no video. I'm not saying get rid of the youtube videos, but adding the mp3 links would be nice.
You can do it in tribehouse, why not anywhere else?
(I don't use music rooms very often due to lag, so if you can use mp3 links I had no idea.)

You can't expect only benefits from something good, there's always going to be something that drags it down.

Extra work? You mean managing a game mode related to their job?

Your last comment leads me to believe you want the mode removed entirely, which is a solution but not practical in my opinion.

I'm pretty sure the "extra work" comment is regarding adding additional websites (such as soundcloud) to the options to choose from, when you already have youtube and its enormous catalog available. And well, in the end whether you like or not what is being played does depend on personal taste.

You do make a good point though. It's called a music room, but we submit videos. Not all of those are going to be music videos, quite the contrary even. Still, I think renaming the game mode to media is way too drastic - why not simply edit the description over at the "game mode" menu a little, so that it clearly states it uses youtube videos? That way people also know what they should be expecting.
