Now, now, this may or may not be allowed, but from my understanding, I have not seen a thread like this nor has it been a suggestion that got denied on the sticky thread. However, it has come to my attention that Transformice needs to take some serious action regarding moderators. I check Cheeseformice daily and there are absolutely never a moderator on the EN 1 or 2 server ever. And because of this, many problems for mice are left unsolved. Now you may ask, why am I discussing this now? Because I have been attentive the past few days, and this is a matter that I believe needs to be taken into consideration by others. Hacking and Cyberbullying are the most major concerns I have. Yes, you can have the majority ban in a room, but what if others refuse to ban someone or are just "too lazy"? What can we do then? Moderators never seem to be online anymore, and if they are, then they are most likely going to be AFK or they are moderators regarding a different server. My apologies if this is not allowed here, but it has been annoying me dearly. I would appreciate at least a response in relevance to this. Thank you. |

Alright, since I consider myself an active moderator, even if it's primarily for NL, I'll reply to the best of my knowledge. I hope you appreciate my reply just like I appreciate your concerns. As far as choosing the suggestions subforum; this subforum is specifically meant for additions (features) for the game itself. Hiring additional staff is up to the respective communities and their community managers (if applicable). As such this technically is the wrong place for such a discussion, which in return is why such threads don't stay here and aren't listed on the suggestion list. But that aside. Firstly, you should know that cheese.formice.com is probably not the best source for finding online moderators. A while back the game got a /mod command which will show you the online moderators at that time per community. This command is always up to date and I recommend you to use it when looking for a moderator. With that out of the way, I'd like to point out that there are different types of staff members. The ones you find lacking in activity and amount are public moderators. They are the ones that show up on CFM and on /mod and they are also the ones everyone on every community sends their whispers to. However, TFM sports more private staff members than public ones. Private staff members (including trial moderators) obviously cannot take your whispers, but they can - and will - check reports. They are a vital part of the staff but unfortunately they do not get a whole lot of credit due to the fact that by design the general public is unaware of their presence and actions. It does mean, however, that even though both CFM and /mod may show no online moderators, there may (and most likely are) still private staff members on. In fact, in the two months since my return to the staff I have never been the only staff member online at any point. Another thing I need to address is your claim of staff members being AFK. This, I can assure you, is very unlikely. Most staff members put a /silence message on when they have other things to do at the time. A lot of people conclude that a staff member is AFK when they don't reply within 5 minutes, but often the opposite is true: there are so many messages in so many languages, some of which require looking up info (can take several minutes for one case, but we get many), that it simply becomes impossible to reply to every message. As such some staff members have started to encourage players to send everything they need from a moderator in a single whisper (thus leaving out the "hellos" and the "how are you" messages). This of course does not take anything away from your main point. In fact, it supports it: if it's so busy, more staff members must be needed. This brings us to the main problem, or at least that is how I see it. Often we'd like to have more help, but are unable to find people that are both meeting the requirements set by the work - not just age but definitely the integrity, responsibility and sensibility that are required when having special permissions that affect paying customers - and that are willing to do this on a voluntary basis. Moderating is a lot more complex than it may seem on the outside, especially for the EN community since this is regarded an international community, meaning dealing with many languages at once. All in all I hope I've answered more concerns and questions than I've raised for you. As far as I see, the suggestion should not be pointed at admins but at regular players. If you're old enough (18+), responsible enough and have some free time to spare, consider doing something back for your community and apply. I do have to add that for my own community, NL, we're doing fairly well. Every community is different. If you have any more questions, I'd love to hear them. I won't answer them directly, but you can expect a reply within 24 hours. You can also PM if you wish. |

honestly, if I were a moderator on my original profile, then you'd see me everywhere. (just saying. don't think I'm begging or whatever it is you'd think that people were to say "If I were.." T-T) just sayin'. |

Haha, a couple of nerds and I were going to make a topic similar to this-- I don't think anyone gets too bothered about moderators until they've personally had a problem. A room I frequent [EN2 room music1] was hit by a couple of room crashers. The regulars and I were pretty patient at first. Like, maybe they'd stop crashing the room the first time they did it-- But of course they crashed the room every time they were up to be a shaman. And they came back for many days straight simply returning to farm some firsts, crash the room again. As anyone would imagine, it's pretty annoying and almost frustrating. I mean, anyone could just change rooms. For people who are harassed constantly by buttweiners, you can just /ignore or /silence ... But the fact that it happens and sometimes without consequences is irritating for me, at least. It's almost like this behavior is a norm. I just wanted to get myself heard out here! Sorry for givin' this thing a bump. Oh, but I almost forgot! Aewing popped into the music room once to skip an inappropriate video, and thanks for that. We normally don't get someone to help us out here, haha. ´ v ` Golly, we felt pretty safe. We really appreciate it. Dernière modification le 1406583360000 |
