Removal of Totems in Survivor |

I think totems should be removed from Survivor for three reasons: 1. They can spawn up to 20 items in the space of time it takes to spawn 1. This is the equivalent of lagging and instantly casting 19 items, which makes it extremely hard to stay alive if even if the Shaman uses it in a mediocre fashion. 2. Normally, you can see the shape and orientation of the item being spawned. In survivor, this plays an integral role as almost no one would be able to survive if you couldn't see this information, as you would have no time to prepare for whatever the shaman was summoning. When summoning a totem, the icon is that of a feather. It shows nothing of the items the totem contains, and therefore gives mice no warning on what they will have to deal with in a matter of moments. 3. When creating a totem, you are allowed to place items anywhere on the screen. This means that if the Shaman so chooses to create a totem using this feature, they can spawn something almost anywhere on the map, as seen here: http://prntscr.com/4c4ssa The mice can be unprepared for items being shot at them from directions they never would have expected. All these points come together to show that a Shaman utilizing a totem made with the intent of usage in Survivor is unfair towards the normal mice playing the game, and that is why totems should not be allowed to be used in the Survivor mini-game. |

It's listed as "planned" on the suggestion list. However, since no thread's associated with it, I'll just put this one there. Your points make a lot of sense so I hope they'll pick up on this soon ^_^ Edit: After checking with Sydoline it turns out it's no longer planned. Dernière modification le 1407967320000 |

i think totems are useful in survivor i understand what you are saying and i agree but the reason why i think its useful is because i mean not all totems are bad just the ones that have all the cannons and i think they should have a cannon limit so yeah |

@above I've seen some that make a large box with planks, then the Shaman puts big boxes inside it so the mice can't move, and kill them using portals. You can't see what the totem looks like, and so that is also unfair. Against a cannon totem (totems using many cannons), hugging the Shaman (getting really close to him/her or being right on top of them) or being right on top of the totem summon point is typically a safe tactic, while against the totem I described (I will call it an "entrapment totem") a viable tactic is to run away from the Shaman/totem summon point. As you can never know what totem will be summoned by the Shaman, normal mice have no way of dealing with this besides guessing the totem (assuming this is the first time the Shaman has used their totem) and if the mice already know the Shaman's totem, it is still very possible that the Shaman can get the mice in a position in which they cannot get away from it. |

@above i see what your saying but i mean its survivor i mean totems really do not help trying to survive but some get lucky and survive that is the point of the game to survive so |

When Holzbot was running Survivor and now (- totems), the Survivor mini-game was and continues to be primarily a skill-based mini-game. Yes, sometimes you get lucky, but the majority of the time knowing what to do and when to do it will get you reasonably far (both as a Shaman and as a regular mouse). You make it sound like the main goal of the normal mice is to die, unless you get good fortune and happen to stay alive. This is not true. The goal of the plebeian mouse is to stay alive for as long as possible, hopefully until the round ends. Totems provide a way for the Shaman to, with one press of the button, kill or trap (trap with a 100% success rate on the mouse you were trying to trap, if constructed correctly) most of the mice still living. This is completely unfair as it gives the mice a much lower survival chance than otherwise. There are plenty of ways to quickly and easily eliminate mice without the usage of a totem, so the removal of the totem wouldn't much affect the people who use totems. I support the idea of removing the totem. They're usually designed to kill a large group without them having a chance and I think that's the main reason of the game. To give people a slight chance of surviving instead of pure destruction (E.G. anvil God). It's not what the game is about and I think keeping it survivor mode would be a shame. I do not agree with loads of techniques of the shaman that they're able to use, like being able to 'favo' a specific player with a teleport. But I do think totem is the main reason it ruins such a fun mode. |

/No support Not all totems in survivor are used for killing, for example my balloon totem, its just a bunch of balloons and I use that in survivor so its perfectly safe, as for totems such as anvil gods, people can still build them without totem, they just ghost a B plank and put lots of anvils with V nails on them to create an anvil god, maybe cannons can just be removed from totem editor? |

You know. I might have to agree with you. Totems in survivor is a big no-no. After Divine Mode is removed in Survivor, we need to have totems removed. Dernière modification le 1407900420000 |

kittencutez a dit : This ^ Spanflame a dit : Like as Kitten said "Not all survivor totem's are not for killing." So what's the point in removing them? /No support Dernière modification le 1407901500000 |

But some are, so why should we keep them? Divine mode didn't have to summon cannons with infinite range, they just chose to. And look at what happened to it. Same thing goes for totems. |

Kittencutez a dit : Since they wouldn't be made for survivor, what's the point in keeping them? Plus, removing cannons would not solve all the totems. Such the box trap totem. I feel this is a good idea to remove totems, since most of them are a large wall of cannons that kill a lot of players. That is unfair. In other words, you have my full support. No support Why's that? i learned to survive cannon totems a bit and i feal ok about them, its challenging enough . but the totems that contain gods i vots for removing them because they are cheats and not "normal game" builds besides, i see some shams using survivor totems to build a bridge to stop mice from going up, why would we stop them fir the reason that " they aren't avoidable" maybe other suggestion: make less objects in the totem. |
