I can say I'm pretty bad at the game, but I'm even worse at Shaman. Any advice?

Practice makes perfect!

If you're still fairly new to being a sham, then what I usually do is play in vanilla (or regular, if that's your thing) rooms and observe the shamans. Watch what they do, and how they do it, y'know? I used to be way too nervous to sham, but now that my level is finally up, I'm pretty decent!

Once you get the hang of things, and an idea of how to place and connect planks, how to stabilize them (invisible red planks if you're not in hard mode), and the like, then make your own private room and practice!

I always went to private vanilla rooms (ex. "/room vanillavanitasu" ) and tried out the maps that came to me. Vanilla maps are the easiest, but you can apply what you know after to regular maps, too. This way, you can also get a feel for any keyboard shortcuts, such as which number corresponds to which item.

I hope this helps!

As someone with over 74,000 saves, I can tell you without any hesitancy that the absolute best thing you can do is to observe other shams. Figure out what techniques work best, see which totem styles are effective and which aren't, and base your own shamming on what you see. Vanilla is the best place to do this, since you'll see the same maps over and over and be able to compare different methods used by the shams. As Vanitasu said above, practicing by yourself in an empty room is a huge help if you're figuring out how to build.
Shamming can be nerve-racking, especially in large rooms with other players calling you noob, but once you gain confidence and experience you'll keep getting better. Good luck!

Personally I'd put emphasis on making sure the base of your build is stable, especially if you venture into hard mode or divine mode. I see a lot of shamans end up just putting a plank and an anvil, hoping that will hold up 30 mice in the air half a map away, which usually just leads to a a lot of death.

It doesn't matter what color the shaman is, just because they are a pink shaman doesn't make them rude instantly, it depends on the person itself.

As for Shaman advice, honestly I am a noob too but just try to observe other people with higher knowledge and their tactics, totems, etc. and also stabilize your builds. If your builds glitch and fly mice into the air you won't be getting many saves.

make sure your base of your build is stable before adding more planks to it. if not then the whole build will be destroyed.

Overreliance on fancy powers isn't a sign of a good shaman. You can solve almost any map quickly and realiably by using proper combination of planks, even in hard/divine/whatever mode. Learn to support your builds properly with or without b planks and you'll get more saves and it'll be overall more pleasant to look at.

If you're using divine mode, too many anvils makes your build unstable.

Definitely watch the other shamans and how they build and the different methods used for those maps. I think vanilla is the best to start learning in. Because the maps are easier and repeat often enough. You will learn a lot just by observing the others. Go in empty rooms and practice building using the different methods and experiment some and see what best works for you and go with that. Don't be afraid to fail or mess up more than once, you learn through experience and everyone messes up every now and then, even if they are good shamans. If the idea of shamming in front of many people makes you uncomfortable, then you could always start in rooms with only a few people and work your way up towards larger amounts until you're ready to sham in full rooms. If anyone calls you a noob or anything else, you should ignore them or leave the room. Don't give up and don't let others bring you down if they do insult you, even the best players were only beginners learning the same things as you at some point.

According to all the things stated above you have to find your style and select the best skills according to that.

For example, I use a laptop, this makes me select and spam things slower than other players using a mouse, so the best way to solve this "problem" is to maximise the skills that give me a faster spawn, so Creator (+30%) + Reflex (+20%) and recicle (x2) this makes me biuld really fast, adding to this eagle eye To rearrange the spawn range.

Every player has his playstyle had have to work with all the tools given in the game to sort the fittest solution for him.
