This is a tutorial on how to do just that on laptops with windows 8 or 8.1 pre-installed. Microsoft had added a feature called a palm-check which disables the touchpad while you type. it's a useful feature but sucks for gaming. So here are the steps to not only turn the darn thing off but to set profiles. Step one, if you have windows 8.1, right click the windows icon and pick control panel, or swipe the charms (the five icons that appears on the right side) on screen, click settings, then click control panel. Step two, click 'hardware and sound', and then 'mouse' under 'device and printer'. This will bring up mouse properties. Now click the 'Device Setting' tab. Step three(skip-able but do this step at your convenience). Look down at the tray icon box and chose any that will put it to the bar. Now go click the profile box. This will bring up the profile manager. Double click New then make a profile name that is used just for typing. Now make another and call it 'transformice' or anything for gaming use. Now 'Load' that profile and proceed to the next step...after you get back to where you was before because windows likes to kick you off once it thinks you're done. Step four, press 'settings'. Now look for 'palmcheck-enhanced' then double click it. This will lead you to where you need to be. TURN THAT SUCKER OFF! Do this by sliding the 'palmcheck' bar off of course. then click out of it, then press 'ok'. If you did step three, go to profile again then 'save' it. Now you're done! Now you can move and summon to your heart's content. =) Remember if you want to turn palmcheck on again, just follow the steps again and hit 'default' on the palmcheck to restore it, or right click the touchpad on the taskbar and choose the profile setting you first saved. |
