WHAT IS CURRENTLY HAPPENING

Vampire maps are almost useless in the survivor games."Why?", you might ask. Well it's because the vampire chosen immediately suicides making the round a 20-second waste of time.

"But everyone gets points!". A geometry teacher once told me that that does nothing, AT ALL. Yeah, everyone gets up, but does the standing change for the majority of players? NO. It even puts the vampire on a 10-point gap to be the shaman against everyone.

"But that's his/her fault!". Yes, it's their volition to suicide or not, but why do they do that?

Let me ask you a question.

Why do you want to score points in survivor?
Most would answer, "I want to be a shaman!"
Why?
Here are some reasons:
  • I get to smack mice with cannonballs legally
  • I feel in control.
  • I get to be in authority
  • Etc.

What urges people to strive to survive is because to be a shaman! That is to be in power over others! Be in authority! You have the power to prevent mice getting points! You can be legally evil!

But do you see these qualities in a vampire?

NO!. In fact, the vampire is under-powered, that s/he just decides to suicide!
In turn, this became a social stigma, and it is harmful to vampire rounds as they are seen as lame rounds when they aren't! They're already grabbed off 10 points for being a vampire!

Also, it is very hard for a vampire to turn other vampires, because the recently-infected vampire will suicide or just stand in their place in defeat.

WHAT CAN BE DONE?

  • Prevent vampires from dying.(They won't fall, or they re spawn)
  • Increase it's abilities
  • Make the environment vampire-friendly

PREVENT VAMPIRES FROM DYING

Or in a crude way,"Force the player to take their roles". It can end up that the player just bawling in a corner for 2 minutes, that's why we...

BUFF THE VAMPS!

I have a list of suggested buffs:
  • A.Make them easier to cling to walls, like that skill in the wind master tree.
  • This would help beginner mice to catch up to their prey.
  • B.About 10% speed increase.
  • A minute buff, it's a delicate balance to adjust this since either the vampires get way overpowered(like over-the-sham over powered), or under powered. Or you can choose..
  • C.50% speed increase, but decreases as more mice gets turned to vampires
  • This way, atleast vampires have a fighting chance in the beginning. Gives them a sense of power. It's like when there's only one vampire, he gets full speed benefits, but when there are like 10 more, he gets a tiny speed benefit, but they got the power of numbers anyway, fair trade!
  • D.A vampire skill?
  • I suggest something that would disable their prey, here's an example.
    FEAR - ONE TIME USE
In a radius like of shaman's meep, a random/the nearest mouse would get severely crippled, reduced to 75% of their normal speed, and makes climbing walls much slippier. lasts 3 seconds. Available to vampires that are infected for 12 s. If not used after 10 s of availability, will not be used again.
(One time use because it can get overpowered fast when there are many vampies who use it. 15s to prevent Fear chains. Primarily used for a vampire to get a head start.)

Of course all of them together would make it rather overpowered. I suggest A and C... OR A & B & D.

---
I believe the vampires-don't-die rule can get out once the social stigma of vampires being pathetic creatures eventually goes off as well.

VAMPIRE-FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENT

Only thing to suggest here is that make vampires have full map vision while mice get limited vision, well that's all. It also adds sense of thrill... and fear.

OBSTACLES

  • Everyone wants to be a vampire
  • Yeah, this can be a problem. But there's always some guy who wants to warrant 10 points. Remember, vampires don't get points. Someone always wants to be a shaman and get a head start. The more vampires are out there, the more rewarding it is to be a survivor, since you will get 10 points while they don't, that is if you don't get bitten.
  • It's hard to win now
  • It's supposed to be. Wonder why the clock sets to 20 seconds when there's only a lone survivor? Yeah, that. Most of the time there's only 3 - 5 survivors after two minutes anyway.

CONCLUSION

Hopefully, when this suggestion gets accepted, vampires will be comparable to shamans. At the cost of 10 points, they get to be powerful, unique among the others, and make mice work their best to survive, it is SURVIVOR after all.

No tl;dr.

I wouldn't want to force somebody to play as a vamp.

NOTE: The page timed out, so I have to write this replay, AGAIN. Quality may not be the same.

So you want the round to be a 20-second waste?

Think of vampires as vengeful beings thirsting for vengeance.
"I died... THEY DIE WITH ME!" , or something like that.

I'd also like to propose a few things concerning the FEAR skill
  • Mice will have a chance of getting a 20% speed boost instead rather than of decreased to 75% normal speed. Same duration. Chance of getting boost depends on number of vampires
  • To prevent vampires from getting too overpowered. Skills + Numbers = Overpowered. Here's an example.
    1 Vampire = 100% chance of crippling
    2 Vampires = 80% chance of crippling
    3 Vampires = 70% chance of crippling
and so on. (-10% decrease per increase of vampire)
  • Skill effect doesn't stack/refresh, but is consumed
  • Prevents vampires from spamming it on one mice, and make them cautious of when to use their skill.

I'd like to suggest that the 30-second mark will disable all available skills. I believe the vampires have garnered enough people by that point.

Here's my vision for the vampire rounds
As time goes on, vampire buffs decrease, and vampire numbers increase.
The root of the problem, in my opinion, is getting the first infections to get the ball rolling.

please make this a thing please
vampires can't do shit, and their speed passive skill is unnoticable
i'd love is vampires got some sort of buff, having a vampire that cant get a single mouse is boring ;_;
we need a challenge, not a walk in the park. if we actually did get some sort of buffs, i would totally wouldnt mind becoming a vamprire

I agree that Vampires were implemented into the game and are currently not up to how they should be. They should be played correctly more frequently to make it feel less like a wasted effort. Many of those boosts for them are indeed clever, and I support most of them.

It's just so annoying for me to be the vamp because it's so easy to avoid being bitten.. And it takes an eternity to actually transform a single mouse, like jeez.

Hmm do you have any disagreements with some of them? Just wondering because I want see some other people's reasoning and probably I have overlooked some factors that can be implemented to the suggestion.

Hmm, I guess it would happen, but with this suggestion, at least one of the mice will be infected inevitably. Also note how hard it is to correctly balance these numerical data, perhaps somebody there is to reference average Mice running speed so that we can have some accurate estimation to improve vampire speed? What I want here is something very small but noticeable.

Superglo a dit :

the vamp can catch you easier in that way.

So you agree in the 10% speed buff rather than the 50% decreasing + skill? Hmm, I guess it is a bit rough when it is a sequential depression type, perhaps 50% then 20% then 15% then slows back to normal speed. the slowing down of the vampire can perhaps be similar to a half-parabola(If you don't know what that means, something like 100 divided by 2, then keep dividing by 2 until a set limit, that's how the speed depression would work)

We're aiming here so that the vamp can catch the mice faster anyway.

---

I'm just estimating here, but I think it takes about 3 - 5 seconds to turn a mice into a vampire. I guess that's reasonable, having it too fast will make vampires overpowered. I think making it slower to compensate for the fast speed would work too, as the vampire can stick to the mice easier.

Hmm This sounds like a good idea. It's annoying when you spend half the round catching a mouse then the jump off or afk.

umm if there were 12 vampires would that mean they'd criple themselves? Or would it stay at 10% after 9 vampires?
