I have been thinking about the gifting system since it came out. For people who can't buy fraises, it is completely useless; for people who can, the price is quite offputting, IMO.
So I would like to suggest a revamp of the system, which would work like this:
We could be able to buy a gift "box" type thing for a small amount of fraises (5 - 20) and then place any item in it. We sometimes get small amounts of fraises from the events so people who can't buy them could also participate in the gifting.

Though the con I see is that TFM wouldn't be bringing in as much profit from the gifting system; it seems like they brought it out for that reason.

It's completely unfair that some people can't buy fraises,
and the gifting system excludes half the transformice
population from it.

Though I also think we should be able to gift items we
already own, (not owning them anymore)
because my friend wants a cat hat from the summer
events and I have one, but I don't have enough fraises
to buy her one :(

Also, when I came here, by gift box I thought you meant sending a gift to offline users that can be received when they log in. I was disappointed.

As you stated, this would cause Transformice to lose some money. Not too long ago, Meli (the game creator), stated in one of her blog posts that Transformice is barely getting by right now on the money they are making on people buying fraises. This would cause them to lose even more money and possibly lead to the game being shut down due to not being able to pay for everything to keep it running. Sorry.
