How come after all the friction updates, the issues with friction have only become worse? Some people have a lot easier time getting grips on choco and wood. What is it based on now if it's not based on framerate anymore?

One map where the problem is absolutely obvious is @167903. On that map, some people can make the last wj's just by holding up and left, while for most of people it's actually impossible to complete the map.

You can also see it in effect when you try to do a really fast choco climb, some people can still do it, most can't. I highly doubt that everone who are still getting easy grips are hacking.

Is there any knowledgeable person enough to explain how things (don't) work nowadays? Better yet, can you actually make the game mechanics work the same for everyone? I know, that's A LOT to ask but most of games kinda do that you know. It is considered to be rather essential design for multiplayer games.

Prr a dit :

It is still based on framerate. Looks like those friction updates were only to patch some hack/glitch abuse.

You can test that map (@167903) on 35fps (/fps60) and you will be able to wj last choco by holding up and left.

Another example: do you remember that thread on old forums about jump boost (tig patched it)?
I do still have that test map :@720339
If you try to run on that map @ 35fps you can get to cheese but if you do it @ 60fps you barely move.

So people with old/slow computers or people that plays on 35 fps will get a small advantage on those cases

I thought it might be the case that lower framerates get the advantage nowadays. I didn't want to believe it though, because it'd make no sense whatsoever.

High framerates have an advantage over lower ones? Ok, lets fix it by reversing the problem and give the advantage to low framerates! Genius!

Here's a suggestion to A801; how about catering to the vast majority who can run the game at 60fps and are currently suffering from having the worst friction mechanics in the history of the game? The game is faster than ever, but the current friction mechanics make it feel far less fluid.

I understand the reasoning of wanting patch out hacks, but the people who were using the framerate hack have just moved to rato leve and other hard-to-detect hacks. They're going to hack anyway. Making the game worse for everyone just to make a few cheaters' life a bit harder is not the right design choice.
