transformice always lags badly after a couple of rounds if i play through steam, to the point I don't anymore and use the Atelier standalone instead. It's a shame, as my man wanted me to spam/fill up his gaming hours on steam with TFM, and have it as the top game when he didn't even play it for lols. |

Is it internet lag (high ping, people running into walls etc) or performance problems such as the framerate dropping? |

Probably framerate drops, the steam overlay really causes framerate issues on Windows (try moving a cannon or plank around with your mouse as shaman really fast, you'll notice it stays a bit behind your cursor). As well as showing and hiding the overlay, it's really slow sometimes to the point it freezes transformice. Even on a pretty good gaming pc. Dernière modification le 1426254180000 |

I'm not sure, maybe both? there is a bit of lag as evilsantah describes with objects lagging behind my cursor, there's also the thing where all the mice look like they're grinding against a wall and then suddenly they dissapear with hearts and the scoreboard says they got in the hole. I can wj and such fine but when i go in the hole it often doesn't register i have till a good few seconds after. Like i can go in the hole first on my screen, with all the other mice grinding a wall miles away from the hole, and i won't shop up on the scoreboard and they'll get first and then i show up :S I have fibre optics internet, it's AMAZING and nothing lags since i got it, this only happens on steam. I don't play steam games but my hubby does and when he's doing it on this laptop he says they are all a bit laggy. It may be my laptop can't meet steam requirements? It's defo not an internet speed issue though. Dernière modification le 1426258320000 |

It definetely sounds like an internet issue though, with mice running into walls and the game not registering when you enter the hole. I doubt that steam is the problem, it wouldn't make sense to redirect the game's internet communication via steam. But to actually rule out steam, do you own other games on steam? You could try downloading another game with steam (can also be a free to play one) and see what bandwidth steam is using to download that game. You don'T have to download the full game, just start the download and cancel it again after some minutes. Check if the bandwith steam shows corresponds with your normal internet speed. (Watch out, steam shows bandwidth in megabyte, not megabit). You can also try to close steam, go into this folder where steam is installed \Steam\SteamApps\common\Transformice and start the "Transformice.exe". This way you can open the game without using the steam overlay. See whether that solves your lag. I know I'm not really posting a definite solution to the problem but these are the steps I would take to see where the problem lies. |
