Autosave for Map Editor |

I've been making an amazing Tribe House Map For My Tribe. It took me hours and hours to make. I finally finished EVERYTHING, when I realized that a grass was somewhat floating over a ground so I clicked select and clicked the grass I then accidentally clicked off my page without realizing. I then started typing in the Height and when I looked up from my keyboard, I guess whatever I was typing sent me to the bottom of my page and clicked The Post "Fishing Event" (On the Transformice Website) which sadly sent me to that link. I can't believe what had happened. This has happened to me several times on the map editor or writing a story on my Tribe Forum. I WISH there was something to salvage my Map. I honestly gave up on making any other map again. I wish there was an auto-matic save that would happen lets say every 2 mins that told you in the chat then saved it or whatever. Wow, this made me have mix emotions. Mad, Sad. I hope Tigrounette makes a Auto Save on the Map-Editor this will save me a lot of time redoing EVERTHING I did. I Hope You Feel The Same Way And Type Back If You've Had The Same Problem! Thanks For....Reading. ~Flarestarr/BrackenStar |

I also agree that Tig is a shitty coder, but saying something like that might get me banned. |

Maybe you should have suggested the auto-save here? |

If this happens to you often, I'd recommend periodically copy-pasting the xml for the map onto a text document as a backup to make sure it doesn't get lost. (In my opinion, an auto save feature would involve saving incomplete maps on the server, which would take up room, and even if a bot was programmed to clean them up every so often, would be more trouble than it's worth, as it would add another complexity to the map editor. and what if you accidentally changed something before selecting your "saved" map? should it list any map you were previously working on, or should any data be saved as soon as a change was made to ensure all content was saved? If both, it would need at least 2 copies saved. and these of course won't be saved with map ID numbers (since not submitted / paid for yet), so these would have to be inked to a player somehow as well? Seems like a un-needly complicated feature to me when you can just copy-paste the xml above anyways (which also offers more flexibility since you can "save" a map a certain state to see if changing something looks good or not without messing it up. |

Why not just make all links open in a new tab? Problem solved, no? |

I agree, I have had the same issue a while ago and it was so bloody annoying! What if it would auto-save your map-code in a new map-folder-thingy on cheese.formice.com for like only an hour, or a day? So when you take a look between your maps you can see the map you have been working on and can easily get the code to paste it in the editor itself. :3 |

I highly dislike the idea of auto saving due to the way I make my maps (so it's highly on personal opinion here) but it sounds usefu and I do know the pain of losing a map due to tabbing out or accidentally closing somethingl. I would suggest making it a toggle able function. /half support |

Kaekat a dit : One of those times when you're unsure whether or not to necrobump ![]() This was totally needed long ago. Maybe you can always open diff tabs, but accidents? Especially on the browser, it's a lot easier to happen than standalone. How this would happen, though, is my question. You said that we should have autosave...but how will this work? Will it just keep autosaving so next time you go to the editor, the map is there waiting for you? Or will it have something to do with saving the XML over time? |
