We all know that soon we’ll be able to change our usernames, and that’s pretty damn cool, really. My only concern is that no one will recognize us by username unless we tell them, which is when my idea comes in.

Now, I know the profiles are already cluttered and full of stuff that could easily either be removed or have little tabs on them (as other really good suggestions have stated before), but I think somewhere at the top of the profile there should be text saying something along the lines of “Who was I before?: (OLD USERNAME)” if the player has changed their username. It would appear on your forums profile as well, and it would avoid having to notify all your friends that youre a certain person and that they didnt add a stranger who they’d most likely want to unadd if they think they dont know you (if you drastically changed your username, that is).

I’m not sure if this was a planned feature for the changing usernames update, but I havent heard of something like this mentioned when people talk about it, so I decided to make this thread just-in-case

Seems like a personal problem. If someone doesnt want this to happen, either tell their friends before hand, or dont change their name?

Good point. There could be, like Nerdy said, an option on your settings menu to enable or disable it, but nevertheless it’s useful

Sometimes it’s hard to contact all your friends. Some people on Transformice have a lot of friends, and even if they don’t keep in contact too much with all of them, they might want to keep them. In other cases, one of your friends might not be entirely active on Transformice, but you still want them to know it’s you without having to wait until they get online only to notify them that youre going to change your name.
Also, I believe most people who will change their name will do so because they dont like their current names or simply want a different identity. Nothing wrong with wanting to change it but also making sure all your friends know it’s you

i see little point in making suggestions about a feature that's not even been implemented yet. It's already been brought up in multiple threads that people will need to know who you were before, i'm sure they'll tackle this somehow

I hadnt heard of this being mentioned ever before, so I was unsure on the subject. Also, I never browse the suggstions forums, so i apologize for making a thread that was apparently made several times before

many names are being changed because they're inappropriate and i don't think the inappropriate names should be listed.
players are changing their names due to harassment, they don't want people knowing their accounts.
you should be able to tell your friends that you're changing your name; stats, outfits, titles will remain the same so the friend can easily check if you're telling the truth. forum profiles won't change and if you have PMs on the forums, you can check those and see the updated name in old conversations.

i think it's better to just tell your friends you're getting a name change.
