[MAP EDITOR] XML viewing option

Today, I have thought of a suggestion that might assist a few map makers while making maps such as mechanism or maps with edited XML content. I suggest that in the Save / Load / Test option on the bottom of the map editor, you can click the option to view the XML you have so far off the side instead of having to use a third-party site such as 'Notepad' or 'Microsoft Word'. Another useful feature of this is the possibility to view where each piece of the XML is placed in the coding while you're adding grounds or nails if you will. Lastly, another very useful feature along with this is the possibility to edit the XML code right there to add a ground despawn or a synced ground or whatever and preview it quickly and easily right there next to your map.

I've edited some previews as to what this may look like if this were implemented in the future with some instructions also.

1)
Go down to the Save / Load / Test option at the bottom of your map editor and fill in the 'View XML' option under the debug option

When you fill in the 'View XML' option, You'll be given a clean and blank text box next to the map outlining. (Please note that this text box is movable if it gets in the way at anytime

)

3)
When you're done, or really just don't need it at the moment, all you do is go back down to the Save / Load / Test option and unfill the bubble

also there's already a text editor-like thing you're describing, it's just really tiny, but the thing you're offering isn't really better, it's tiny too.

You shouldn't have to depend on off-site things for something in game. Same argument as "OH WE SHOULDN'T HAVE A MAP VIEWER BECAUSE OF [CFM/MICETIGRI]" And in this case, it's not even how it's supposed to be used.

While I myself use an external XML editor for things like line formatting, seeing text and tag pairs, colours, compressing and quickly writing XMLs, it's not good for everyone since it can be pretty complex. I don't think there'll ever be a tool as powerful as FrameMaker or Sublime built into the game, but it could definitely be easier for users.

I know plenty of people who like making maps and just want to do simple things like making a ground invisible or making the map 1600 pixels long, but don't fully understand the concept of editing an XML, let alone copying it to an external editor and back in. I absolutely support adding an inline XML editor/viewer to the game, it would make things a lot easier for a lot of people.

Could have it as a window like the lua editor, that might work. It would help with formatting or just generally laying out things in an easy to edit fashion. It would make XML editing considerably more accessible for newer players, in my opinion.

You know you can type /lua into the map editor :/ that is a text editing box, for the exact same reason as what you want

I stand by my non support, this really just isn't needed, we practically already have three text editors ingame, 1, the chat, 2 The XML Bar like I talked about above, and 3 the LUA box.

edit: plus like I said, forum text editor, I'm not seeing what's wrong with it, and if you're able to type /support here, you're using it

Really all you have to do is improvise, which is literally what map making is all about if you think about it

I actually do edit map XML's in the chat, for the exact reason Shamousey used

Things like this, and "boy howdy" its actually rather useful for quick things like that.

Agreed, but that's just a reason to use the forum text editor, as it isn't a single line. Like I said above, if you're able to support this idea, you're using an external text editor, so there is no real reason to have any issue with external text editors.

ok yea simple things but u cant tell me u can edit an entire xml in the chat, and /lua cant be used bc of the chara limit

im just gonna requote this since you never came back to me then

also if you want map making to be wide spread like you claim, you should have no qualms with making it easier for people to edit their xmls.

Just because I want more people making maps doesn't mean I want useless updates like this to be implimented

Also this "chara limit" what do you mean? I literally took my time to look into this and create an almost max chara XML and I managed to store more text on one line than the XML in the LUA box

Off sites are used for practically any site, not just games, literally all this is going to do is add another text box. If someone's computer is so bad they can't open up another tab to fit the forums, or just open up Notepad, I don't actually see why they'd be playing this game to begin with.

i got confused with the character limit with lua, it's higher than i thought, so i do apologize. but i digress.
it's literally not useless, people have explained why it'd be the contrary. it provides an immersive environment to edit, you dont have to shift your focus, you have a one stop place to edit and test...
the only one who thinks it's useless is you and to be frank, your reasons for not supporting it are rather dumb. since there's obviously a way to edit text in game, as is made obvious with the /lua window that you so love to reference, it won't be difficult to add this.
some people would rather some convenience.
