Do you have an idea for a great minigame? Can you code in Lua? Are you a creative artist? If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, read on!

This is a contest where the ultimate aim is to create a module that people will be able to enjoy in Transformice. Come up with a good idea, pair up with other people if you want, and make an awesome minigame! You will be able to develop a minigame based around a certain category of gameplay and win some big prizes!

If you don't know what a module is and want to learn more, take a look at the Module FAQ.

Categories

When you create a minigame, it must fit in one of the following categories:

  • Teamwork - The aim here is to make players work together in order to win. This could be a competitive team-based game like #domination, something where teamwork is vital in order to pass the round like #transform, a game where teamwork helps a lot but isn't required like #deploy, or whatever else you can think of.
  • Asymmetrical Gameplay - The gameplay for this category must be designed so that not every player is equal. While the game should still be balanced and fun for everyone, mice may have different roles and tools at their disposal.
  • Freestyle - You can create a minigame doing whatever you like, not limited like the above categories! However, your code must be based around this script. You may alter, improve, and change around the code in the previously linked script, but it must contain the same functionality.

Prizes

There will be 3 total winning modules picked out of all the entries. If multiple people worked on an entry, the prizes can be split out amongst them. The prizes for each winning position are as follows:

  • 1. 2000 cheese, 300 fraises worth of shop items, official module
  • 2. 1500 cheese, 200 fraises worth of shop items, official module
  • 3. 1000 cheese, 100 fraises worth of shop items, official module

Note: For the modules to be made official, they may need several changes and improvements after the contest. The winning developers can work alongside members of the module team to ensure it's prepared to become official.

Judging

The submitted minigames will be judged by several criteria to ensure the game is suitable for Transformice in as many ways as possible. Some of these criteria are:

  • Fun - The resulting minigame must be enjoyable to play.
  • Innovation - New and unheard of game concepts will be great to see! Another #deathmatch clone with chickens instead of cannons won't be.
  • Intuitiveness - The game should ideally be easy for new players to get into. Whether there's a help menu that pops up when you join, the controls are obvious, there's text on the screen when it's needed or whatever else you decide upon, make sure people can start playing straight away.
  • Code Efficiency - This won't be a major factor, but the code should be written fairly efficiently as to ensure it won't crash with lots of mice doing things.

Both members of the module team and members of the staff team will help to judge the final modules.

Rules & More

  • If your module will need some features available only to the module team (such as images or chat messages), you can contact a member of the module team to discuss using them.
  • If you can't complete the module on your own, feel free to post in this thread to ask for someone else to help you out. Similarly, if you have a skill that you could use to help out someone else, feel free to post it in this thread so others can team up with you.
  • One module submission per person/team.
  • To submit your entry, send a PM to Moduleapi. Make sure to include a brief description of your module, a link to the code, and a list of everyone that helped make it.

Submissions close on 13/12/2015.

Hey happy that my idea was finally in an official contest (I mean i made a fake one to show how it would be great) http://i.imgur.com/7TTSk.png

But what if a member of the Lua Team use his advanced functions (like addImage or chatMessage) and the others can't ?

addImage, chatMessage and other unavailable functions in tribe house aren't forbidden.
