Prologue
Sun-kissed fur swayed as the wind calmly disheveled his fur, as brown eyes gazed emotionally towards his opponent, his face contorted into a slight grimace of pain; the pain of seeing his friend, and knowing that they had to injure each other and fight. But the mouse stayed calm, tail wrapped around his waist. The mouse stood, on a green and empty field, unknowing of the upcoming fight between the two mice. The orange and yellow mouse, with the symbol of the sun etched onto his thigh had felt the need to say something- to break the torturing silence.

"I wish things didn't have to be like this," the mouse whispered to his friend, and his eyes sparkled with dismay for a moment.
His opponent stared at him with black eyes, his fur as grey as the night, and like the sun-furred mouse- albeit the opposite symbol-, the symbol of the moon was on his leg. Slowly, the dark mouse closed his eyes, as the wind finally escaped from the light mouse, and passed onto him. The tip of his mouth curled up into a smirk, as he reopened his eyes with the unnatural glint of blood lust and excitement for battle. A maddened laugh escaped the dark mouse's mouth, his tail waving in excitement.
"It's time to die, brother."

~

There was once a legend, a legend that brought chaos and unbalance of power in this world. It was a fight between two brothers, the sun and the moon. Both fought to gain control, and if the sun won, it would bring warmth and prosperity. And if the moon won, darkness would rule, and all hopes and dreams would be lost.

Welcomeeeeeee, folks of A801Forums. This story was created on May 22, 2014 when the world was a happy place, and CFM was still alive. I ended up dropping this story, but after stalking my own threads on CFM for a bit, I saw this, read the whole thing all over again, and decided to continue it from where it left off. I don't know how far I'll be able to go since I lost my original plans, but hopefully this time, I won't get bored of it. Wish me luck!

Please be sure to read everything on this OP before reading the chapters. You WILL get confused if you don't. I guarantee you.

Chapter One

A scream echoed throughout the clearing of a forest, and pale white ears twitched at the sound. The mouse stilled in caution, and hardened dark brown eyes scanned the area. The mouse crouched in a way where her body was fully guarded, and any surprise attacks she received would give her the minimum damage. Her nose twitched, and her eyes closed for a brief moment, but it was enough for her other senses to widen and expand. The mouse wore an explorer's helmet, covering her baby blue hair that stood up on the back of her neck.
She felt it coming, the danger, the evil. She frowned. Ever since the start of this dystopia, she and the other Stellae have been dissatisfied with the world, and they very rarely visited the continents.
They're here. There was a crackle that echoed, and the Stellae's eyes yearned to open in seriousness. She licked her lips, whiskers twitching in slight anticipation. She inwardly sighed, she only came to this plain to train, to hone her skills. Her paws held the bow flat to the ground, the ice on the tips of her arrows shining from the revealed sunlight. The two daggers she had on her thighs seemed to vibrate with power, and her eyes opened and flashed red for a second.

Bloodlust.

Her teeth lengthened like that of a canine's, and the air around the Stellae seemed to thicken as her killing intent flashed through the forest.

Anticipation.

Then, a voice echoed through the forest, mocking and gravelly. "Sorry to disturb your practice session, Kiki." A flash of light, and lightning struck the grass meters in front of the Stellae; Kiki. The mouse appeared, dark skinned and burly. He wore a skull over his head, and Kiki couldn't help but wince at the lack of fashion sense.
A round pocket glass was stuck above the skull, and his black hair was very wild. He had a beard, covering his widened smirk. Kiki looked him over in a slight disgust, as her sensitive nose smelt the disgusting odor smoking out of his body.
"With that atrocious fashion sense and disgusting odor, I assume you're Gladiusarch?" Kiki's voice was melodiously dangerous, and Gladiusarch's smirk turned murderous.
"I see you know about me." He growled, eyes narrowed in annoyance. "Then you'll know what I've come for." He gestured towards the symbol on her leg; a diamond with four moons on all four sides, and a circle inside the moons. Kiki growled, almost amused at the offer.
"Yes," she replied quietly. "I do know." If it was possible, she crouched lower, and Gladiusarch's eyes widened comically as she suddenly disappeared from sight. "But then you should know my answer, Gladius." Gladiusarch found himself in an uncomfortable position, as both hands were held behind his back, and a dagger was pressed against his jugular, the pressure hard enough to draw a drop of blood. "Don't move," she said dangerously, killing intent pouring out of her in waves. "Or I'll ki-." Gladius's tail had thrown her back, and as soon as he was free, a staff materialized in his hand. He gave Kiki a grin so evil and his eyes flashed red.
"While you may be a Stellae, Miss Kiki.." He shuffled into battle position, holding his staff behind himself, his right foot shifted backwards. He leaned forward, eyes gleaming with excitement. "But I'm not a part of the Periculums for display." Kiki smirked in satisfaction.
"I'll spit those words back at you, then." With a a burst of energy, she sprang up, baby blue hair hitting her face. But she took no notice, eyes hardened and an aura of seriousness surrounded her seemingly feeble body. She held the bow tightly, aware that she was falling at high speeds and took out an arrow.
And with great aim and precession, she shot the arrow.

And thus, the battle began.

Chapter Two

The arrow took off at a great speed, as it cut the wind in half- whistling as it did so. Kiki was a master at archery, having spent decades practicing it. Her accuracy and precision was not to be trifled with, and this was what got her into the Stellae.
It took the ice-tipped arrow half a second to reach the Periculum, and he was relieved he was paying attention. He jumped back, narrowly missing the arrow as it flew towards him.
The ground began to crack as the dangerous weapon engraved itself to the ground, and Gladiusarch soon realized the inescapable danger he had gotten himself into.
The power in that shot was massive, he thought grimacing. As wise and alert as he may have been, he was blinded by the loyalty he gave to his Master, setting off alone to find this Stellae. His arrogance and loyalty had got to the point where he thought that even the strongest of his foes were nothing as long as his loyalty served his Master.
Big mistake. He thought grumpily, as his eyes darted towards his beard, somehow not surprised that half of it was..burnt off from his narrow dodge. His attention shifted back to Kiki, watching her as she gracefully landed on the ground, mouth widened into a smile. He growled to himself. He would not let his fear surround him, he would not make his Master disappointed!
He let out a war cry, his four limbs rushing up to the powerful Stellae as his tail empowered his wooden staff with black magic. As the tip of the top glowed black, he reached the Stellae and began sending flurries of claw-attacks to Kiki which she dodged every time by leaning side to side or jumping back.

Gladius suddenly stopped, and he hid his staff from her view. Kiki raised an eyebrow, confused as to why he stopped and he grinned dangerously.
"I said it before, Miss Kiki.." Once again, he dropped to his battle stance, eyes glinting evilly. "And I shall say it again.." Kiki's eyes widened, and her tail stilled as Gladius emanated a giant flow of killing intent which, she wondered, could have reached the nearest village. Gladius's eyes glowed red, as red cracks began to appear on his skull mask and pocket eye glass. When the skull shattered, Kiki was able to look at his face, and was shocked at what she saw. Red, small circles covered his face, like an incomplete shaman. Her eyes narrowed in anger.
How dare he mock the Shamans!? She growled, almost wanting to jump straight at Gladius, but waited silently as he powered himself up.
His face turned into a snarl, as another blast of killing intent poured out of him, this time in massive waves. "I am NOT-" he roared at her, a feeling of satisfaction poking at him as he watched Kiki's face contort into anger. "-A PERICULUM FOR NOTHING!" Gladius's tail whipped out the hidden staff to view, the tip now holding a miniature, but compressed -Kiki noted-, ball of black energy. She cursed, jumping into the air as Gladiusarch fired the ball towards her, leaving a black trail as it flew. Her eyes widened in surprise as the ball suddenly flew upwards, and knowing she could not dodge in the air, took out an arrow once more and shot it at the ball..
A second too late.

~

Rothgrall huffed in annoyance as his sparring partner blocked his strike once more with his staff. He stared at Myr, a Custodis as he grinned down at Rothgrall in amusement.
"You realize you'll have to do better than that, my friend?" Rothgrall growled, rolling his eyes at him. He plopped himself down to the ground, admitting defeat as his tail sagged disappointedly.
"I'm only a kid, Myr! And you're one of the Custodis! It's impossible for me to beat you! Even if it is a sparring match.." He pouted, making Myr laugh as he ruffled Rothgrall's brown, spiky hair. Myr sat down, both mice staring up at the sky.
Rothgrall sneaked a glance at Myr, looking back up when Myr noticed his stare.
He was only a Bonum, and Myr was a Custodis. Of course it was impossible for him to beat Myr. He was on a whole new level! But, Rothgrall smiled to himself, that was what fueled him on to get stronger, become more powerful. He would be like Myr one day, he would become a Custodis. Just like Myr. He grinned, and he stood up in front of his newly found idol. He pointed a finger down at the Custodis, his other hand on his waist. With his eyes glinting, he yelled at Myr loudly.
"I'm going to become a Custodis just like you, Myr! And then I'll beat you!"

Chapter Three

Decylra was out of breath. She'd been running for ages, at a speed where she could almost top a deformed cat running in anger. Despite the pain steadily growing at her side, she ran on, desperate to reach her destination.
Her master rarely contacted anyone below the Periculums, and give the order himself. The Nocens rarely saw the master, leaving some to believe that he was just a make-believe person that the Periculums had made up. But despite all that, Decylra's loyalty remained firm, her trust in the master never wavering. She knew he was real, so her reaction when she heard other Nocens spreading rumouors that the Dark Master wasn't real, she had exploded, and challenged the strongest Nocens.
With her anger and loyalty fueling her determination to win, she had, in a sense, crushed the Nocen's bones and beat them to a pulp. This had earned her the title of Cylra the Sadist.

When the Dark Master had contacted her, and applauded her for her loyalty, she was beyond ecstatic- to the point where she remained speechless for days, unable to process at what had happened. That was her first contact.
The second time her master had contacted her was two days ago, and ever since then, she had run off to do her assigned task, travelling non-stop. The memory flashed through her mind repeatedly, each flash damning her to go faster and please him.

-

"Go forth, Decylra." Her master commanded, his face and body hidden in the shadows. Cylra could only see his dark eyes that seemed to radiate with power. "Help out our friend, our comrade." Decylra nodded. It was taking all her will power to not grin in front of him. Nocens were not meant to have an inch of emotion except loyalty after all. She watched as her master displayed a show of his power: his hand glowed a dark shade of black, leaving a trail when he waved his hand. The trail seemed to solidify, and seemed to form into a rectangular screen. It flashed into a nightly shade of purple, before showing a two dimensional hologram of Gladiusarch, clutching his stomach and breathing rather hard. "He has lost to the Stellae I ordered him to find. We need her on our side." He stared at her, and Cylra understood.

"I will not fail you, master."

-

She snarled at the pain eating away at her side, and she slowed down her run.
It wouldn't make much of a difference anyway, she frowned at herself for thinking that. She could see the tall green trees that made up the forest, and was beginning to hear sounds of fighting.
What are you doing, Decylra? Her ego reprimanded. If you slow down, you may not get there in time. Cylra grit her teeth in thought.
But.. It hurts. She almost whined, clutching her side harder.
Oh, it hurts? Decylra's ego mocked her. How much pain do you think you'll be when you know you've failed Master?
At this, Cylra saw red, instantly speeding up and forgetting about the pain. I'm coming for you, Gladius. But this isn't for you. This is to make Master proud.
~
Gladius gave out a grunt of pain as he was once again slashed by Kiki's dagger. By the information his master had given him, the fact that Kiki was cheerful and not merciless was false. This Kiki was different. She was ruthless, hitting him whenever she could, and right now, she had him backed into a corner. Gladius had gotten her pissed after he hit her with that blow, and he was still getting over the fact that his attack had failed.
That ball of energy was enough to wipe out an entire colony of mice, and when he saw her alive- injured, but alive-, he didn't know what to think. But that was when he realized. Kiki was way out of his league, and he couldn't defeat her alone. Gladiusarch needed help.
And fast too, he thought, his eyes quivering in fear as he stared at Kiki's emotionless eyes. She raised her dagger, poised to strike his heart. This, he gulped. This is it. And Gladius closed his eyes, waiting for the pain to come. He could imagine it- the dagger slowly descending down upon him, and he felt the tip of the dagger touch the skin that acted as a cover for his heart.
"NO!" Kiki's eyes widened as she sensed a weapon flying towards her at a high speed. She jumped back to dodge, irritated that she didn't get to kill her prey. A murderous aura surrounded her, and she slowly turned towards her new opponent.
Decylra had arrived, her right hand held out in front of her, left hand clutching her sides. She was breathing hard, a smile on her face, happy that she had gotten there in time. "Sorry." She panted, not feeling sorry at all. "But I'm afraid I'll have to take him away from you."
And Gladiusarch's eyes flashed open.

Chapter Four

The Stellae's eyes were piercing and dangerous, almost flashing red as a sign of anger. She stared at the new-comer, brown eyes cold, a small hue of orange slowly beginning to spread. Decylra, unlike Gladiusarch, realized immediately the danger she put on herself. Nonetheless, she stared back at her enemy, taking up most of her will power to not flinch in intimidation.
Ignoring the stabbing pain at her sides, she positioned herself so she stood up straight. She forced a grin at Kiki, amethyst eyes shining a beautiful violet. Decylra was wise. Perhaps wiser than Gladius himself when it came to enemies.
"I've not come to fight you," she reassured Kiki, nodding her head towards Gladius. Kiki's right eyebrow rose up unnoticeably, but it did not escape Cylra's observant gaze, and took her silent response as an opportunity to continue. "Master himself has asked me to return with my comrade."

Decylra walked slowly towards the two, eyes never leaving Kiki's. To come this close to a Stellae, a person with no sides, was a time to be very well guarded. The Stellae only watched her with curious eyes, as Decylra lifted Gladius off the ground and allowed him to lean against her.
"Forgive me," Decylra muttered, finally taking her eyes off Kiki to inspect Gladius. "But I cannot allow you to behead my comrade. So if you wish to fight, then let us fight." Decylra's body seemed to convulse, and her face contorted with pain as she began her attack.
"That won't be necessary." Kiki said, her eyes now shining with amusement. "We shall not fight, Nocem." Decylra bit back a sigh of relief and her body slowly stopped convulsing, her pained-filled face returning to its original impassiveness. "But I warn you, and bring this warning forth onto your master, Nocem. You shall not ask a Stellae to join sides ever again.
"We are the Stellae, and we have no sides. We will show no favour, and we shall kill those who attempt to take us in. Do not anger us." The last sentence was highly emphasized, and Kiki's body suddenly flashed a bright white, body glowing with power that was not shown in the fight with Gladius. And Decylra soon understood. The Stellae were a group, and they stood by their beliefs, and they were much stronger than anyone could ever be- except the disciples.
When the light ended, Kiki was nowhere to be found, the Nocem staring at the spot where the Stellae once was. It soon left her gaze, as she stared at Gladiusarch in a slight amount of pity.
"She held back, Gladius. Immensely." She whispered. Gladius nodded with half lidded eyes. He had stayed silent throughout their conversation, his instincts telling him that he would be killed other wise. "You're an idiot." Decylra muttered, humming in wonder as she watched her body glow purple.
"M-master's tele-teleporting us home." Gladius heaved out as he informed Cylra. His voice was hoarse from the shock of almost staring at Death's face. "Crap." He swore, as he attempted to stand up by himself, and Cylra sighed in annoyance.
"I know you're a Periculum and all, but right now, you're in no position to do such thing, Gladiusarch." Her gaze steeled as she watched Gladius try to stand. "Back down."
"Shut up, Decylra."

~ A Month Later ~

The sky took on reddish hue as the sun hesitantly allowed darkness to control the night. White clouds turned pink, the dying sun casting one last source of light as it slowly set behind the mountains.
He sat there, watching the sunset as his body turned into a black silhouette. He was still and calm, with eyes as green as the fresh grass he sat on. He was one of the last of his kind, one of the last of Shamans. They would sprout unnaturally out of nowhere, after the old generation's batch of Shamans had gone. There were always two that would sprout, one light, one dark.
The Divines and Stellae had decided upon it. The Divines were Gods, see. But they would not lower themselves as to show their existence, and unlike the Stellae, they would do whatever costs to stay hidden. The Stellae's were like Deities: representations of the Gods. They were neutral, and favour no sides unless with a very grave reason. If they worked together, no doubt would they be able to make any feat in the world.
But, the mouse clenched his teeth as he struggled to control his anger towards the entities of power. Of all things they could have achieved in the world, they chose to make sure that a new generation of Shamans would spring forth as soon as the old ones die. His steely gaze stared at the sky, as it darkened in what almost seemed to be delight for its victory. No matter which side loses or which side wins, there will always be war.
But he understood why they chose to do that. There must always be a balance of power, the Yin and the Yang. In this world, there will always be betrayal. There will always be loyalty. There would always be fighting.
The mouse had realizes it long ago. There would never be a winner. The Light and the Dark would always war against each other, and neither would win. He almost gave up on the peace, founding it useless to fight the dark. But then, he realized: There is an end. There is always limit. An end to everything. Until that time, he would wait.

And with a small smile, the mouse stood up and turned to leave the place, feathers on his head gaining a strange yellow glow.

He was the Light Shaman, one of the last of his kind. And soon, like his old predecessors, he would fight the one he had come to know as his brother. But this time, all would end, and there would be no more wars.

Chapter Five

The earthquake had shaken everybody up. It hadn't happened too long ago, but the fact that it had happened so suddenly, with no warning whatsoever, had caused a distinct amount of stress to the mice. The chaos that had currently got mice running around in circles was messy, and when the Custodis were informed of the mess, they had immediately appeared to ease the town folk. The Custodis had gotten all Bonums to search for the cause of the sudden earthquake, but the Bonums had come back empty handed with no information.
At that, the Custodis immediately frowned in suspicion and had called up a private meeting at the Light Shaman's place to talk about the unnatural occurrence.
~
"Why are we here, Myr?" His voice was deep and commanding, and everyone in the room felt the controlled, oceanic power within him. Myr bit his lip in preparation, carefully planning his speech. Meetings like these didn't happen very often, so while the Custodis had met the Light Shaman, it was almost impossible to spot the Shaman other than those very meetings. Myr silently took in an intake of air in nervousness.
"Sir, as you may have recently experienced, there was an earthquake with a magnitude of approximately seven point three." He began, pausing slightly. "You know very well how unnatural such an occasion is, for the last time we had an unnatural event such as this, it had happened hours after a warning. Its magnitude reached only three point five, the normal magnitude of earthquakes." Myr closed his eyes and allowed his elbows to rest on the table, his fingers tangling themselves together with his chin propped onto them.
"And I suppose this has caused a riot amongst the villagers?" The Light Shaman's voice held a twinge of interest, and Myr would have smiled if it were not for the seriousness of the matter. Myr nodded, opening his eyes to watch the upper being's movement. The Light Shaman leaned back on his chair and hummed a flat tone, a small smile playing on his lips as he eyed the members around him.
"An earthquake with a magnitude of seven point three- and with no warnings whatsoever- does not seem like a normal natural occurrence, Light Shaman." Another Custodis piped up, and the Light Shaman nodded in agreement, sighing soon after.
"No," he said simply, standing up. "We mustn't dwell on this as of yet. We shall wait for one week, and if another earthquake occurs similar to this, then do not hesitate to come. Although in the meantime, I expect you to live up to your roles and search for the cause."
"Ah, we had gotten the Bonums to do that while we were calming the villagers down." Metria commented, eyes shining with respect for her master. "But I have a suspicion." The sudden change of tone in her voice had got the other Custodis frowning. They knew what she meant, but such an idea itself was absurd. Still, they did not find themselves arguing or turning down her words.
The Light Shaman's lips tugged down, eyes shining with wisdom. "Yes, I too suspected that. And if our suspicions are confirmed with the possibility of a second earthquake, then we can safely say that it was their work." He replied, motioning for the other Custodis to stand. "Dismissed."

Chapter Six

The Dark Disciple stared at the crystal tower with a grim expression, almost biting his lips in an attempt to calm his anxiousness. He wouldn't admit it, but he was nervous. His plan was risky, the failure rate almost at seventy percent. He couldn't afford to fail this- because he knew that the outcome would be too severe for his tastes. The result would turn out to be deadly-- and the annihilation of the mice world was something even he didn't want. No matter how evil he was, he knew that the flattening of his world would be something he would hate. How else would he be able to take back his lands? The loss of his dream was almost terrifying, to the point where if his dream was lost, he would hide and cower behind the light in fear.
But, he clenched his fists, eyes hardening as his resolve steeled in determination. He would not cower, and he would not hide. He was the most powerful, and nothing, not even the failure of his plans could stop him.
"My dreams are absolute."

~

"There are five crystals scattered in each region." A majority of mice were scattered throughout the area, ears perked up in attention, eyes focused on a single figure. "Periculums," the figure called out, and almost immediately- the Periculums swiftly jumped above the mice to take their positions--each of them on top of a giant column. All five of them bowed towards him, bodies stiff with seriousness.
"I want the five of you to go there." The figure stepped out of the shadows, revealing himself to be Dark. Black eyes glinted with malice, as he stared down at the Periculums in superiority. "You're to go undercover and pass through each village undetected." He instructed. He held up a hand as one of the Periculums began to speak. "No, we can't. Avoiding the villages is what Light and his idiotic guardians of Custodis and Bonum would expect. You will go undercover, no exceptions."
The Periculums nodded in understanding, as all of them jumped off their respective columns except one.
"Sir," the mouse started, his brown hair waving in time with the breeze as he bowed to his master. "You know my thirst for blood..." he let out, his one eye seeking for approval. He felt no need to continue his sentence, his brown eye lighting up when he heard his master chuckle.
"I'm afraid you can't kill anyone this time, Raven. It would ruin your cover. You must hold in your bloodlust for the time being."

~

Raven looked at himself in the mirror, his only eye glinting with what seemed to be hate. Despite the fact that he loved his master dearly, the fact that he didn't allow him to go on a killing spree had caused a much greater emotion to arise. Hate slowly built up inside him, eating away at his will. He growled, almost laughing humorously when his fangs showed.
No. His forehead creased in an attempt to calm his anger. I can't let my anger get the better of me, yet. I must obey, first. The time will come for when I shall strike.

If I do sign up for a character can my sword be magical??

Aah, a magical sword?
It can have SOME attributes to magic, however, not so much that it would make it too OP. (I mean, if you do, I'll always find a way to degrade your character down a bit so things'll be fairer. The sword itself can't be magical, however, it can be a sword that can change if you put in a specific amount of energy into it.

Feel free to apply, though! I won't stop you. :P
