Hi, this is a problem I've been having while using Transformice on steam,

Every other time I try and open it up, it loads okay, but then shows the text
"Incorrect version, try to reload the game."
And I do as it says, but the message keeps popping up, any suggestions?

Try running as administrator. I do not know if it that would help but it is worth the shot.

This occasionally happens to me, but restarting the game fixes it for me.
Try verifying the integrity of the game cache by right clicking Transformice in your Steam library, then choose "Properties", then click the tab "Local files", then click "Verify the integrity of the game cache".

This happens to me today, and I don't play it on Steam.. just the ordinary app :/

this happened to me awhile back - uninstalling it and reinstalling fixed it for me (I use the downloaded version obviously)

well not much you can do about it besides that to counter this issue really.

I verified the file, downloaded and deleted the game, but it didn't fix it.
I guess I have to wait for the new update.
If a solution has been found, I would be happy if you could please reply here.


I deleted all Transformice files and the game from the local disk. Strangely, it got better.

I've had that, too. It looks like it was a server problem. I was playing and suddenly got disconnected. When trying to re-log, first the game didn't connect at all, then I got the "incorrect version" message when I tried to log in. I was able to log in as guest and saw that only few players were online and most rooms that had been there before were gone, so it seems that most or all other players had been kicked out as well. After waiting a bit, I could log into my account again, so apparently the problem had been solved by then.

So no wrong game version, just a technical problem. Besides, the "game" that you download and install is just the loader, I think. The actual game is downloaded when you start the program, so it should always be the newest version anyway. (And if you really have an old, cached game version, for example in your browser, some of the posts above describe how to fix that.)

The version of the loader doesn't seem to matter. I'm using the online loader at http://transformice.com/ChargeurTransformice.swf in a standalone flashplayer rather than the Steam client, and that loader is a very old version which still works.

(I also got the "incorrect version" once when I had a bad internet connection and the game took too long to load, so that's another thing that can cause this message to appear.)

i've just experienced a hack that crashes everyone (in the room)'s game and makes their game load in as "incorrect version, try to reload the game"
thankfully, i instantly did some digging because i am a VICTIM of this ...
you can delete a tfm internal file and use the steam settings to recover it and revalidate all of the files! it fixes it immediately if you ever encounter the same game murderer as me!! :-)
