Should We Have More Chat Settings?

i'm pretty sure half of the kids who play this game cuss and don't even care about it, but are of course afraid of their parents seeing it. (although some parents dont have a problem with cussing, so long as they dont do anything inappropriate).

anyways they can enable the filter if they want or have to, but some words can get passed the filter as well. wish we still had that "display chat" setting back, not sure why they took it out.

Meh, believe it or not they're probably already being exposed.

There is a chat filter :o but it would be nice to see a "hide all chat" feature I suppose

it's not our job to moderate what kids can view.

I agree with Soakitup we should have a "hide all chat" or something in that matter.

There should be a feature to hide all chat, it's already been suggested previously

But kids 10 and under probably shouldn't be playing this game tbh, it's not really our fault if someone cusses in front of them, that's their parent's job.

There's already a way to clear the chat, it's something like /hide or /clear

But the problem with this option is that when you get a new message in the chat, like "No cheese for you!" Or when someone says something, the entire chat pops up again.

Most people on this topic would blame the parents, but then again, the kid probably told their parents they were doing homework, and switching tabs whenever their Mum/Dad walked past.

Oh hey, it's me on the blame the parents bandwagon.
While I'm not for a complete invasion of privacy such as searching one's PC every so often, having a talk with your kids about what kind of websites they go to is another thing.

I'd like a hide chat option for myself actually. Even as someone way over ten, I can't say I'm a fan of the toxicity.

I agree with Xenguy, parents just shouldn't let kids play this game at a young age

As everyone said above there is a chat filter. If the chat bothers you, you can always whisper yourself and open a private chat window on that to block the rest of the chat from showing. This is the closest to "disabling" the chat.

If they were under 13, most of them would lie about their age and say their over 13 for that chat. Just like the the terms and conditions:

I believe it does until someone else talks again. I'll usually hide in a tabbed whisper with someone or in the tribe chat.

Kids who are exposed to this will know what to expect in the future. It can help their tolerance to things. Happened to me.

Then you type it again every 5 seconds because chat returns to normal when a message appears.

I would go into a channel by myself before clearing so it stays that way.
