I'd like to suggest this option, and I think it would be useful for someones.
A hide chat box option.

Well, there are people who don't like seeing the chat while playing, they can also be distracted by it. (To admins: If you want, how about hiding the chat entirely?)

I want my "haters" to go stfu about my "chitty-chat" with my friends.

If they won't ignore me when I suggest them so, I guess this is the option they have been waiting for to be lonely for all eternity.

I'd like to hide the entire chat box and score board though. Maybe there should also be lines to show where the death borders are when you're playing with it off.

What if you're spammed by whispers or tribe messages?
You will be easily distracted and i'm sure.

The chatbox is not only communication between players, it is also communication between players and staff, and players and the game. If anyone or anything needs your attention for whatever reason, they won't be able to get it because you have your chatbox hidden. This can be a problem. As much as the chat can be spammy and obnoxious, it is also a valuable source of information that would otherwise be lost (server messages, room invites, whispers, etc.). Let's also not forget that a big portion of what makes this game enjoyable is the interaction between players. So therefore I believe there are too many downsides to this suggestion, which is why I do not support.

I don't think they would be lost, how about instead of having it as an option, having it in the corner "Hide all chat messages."
Then, if you wanna see the chat messages, "Show all chat messages"

or important players such as staff can penetrate the blocked chat. I know moderators and admins have another way of talking in the chat when doing public announcements.
