Taken nicknames unlocked? |
0 | ||
Now that the name change feature is available in transformice, many people are probably scrolling through viable options for new nickname and noticed that huge amount of names are already taken.. More than often by low level accounts which might have been in use a couple years ago for a round or two. My suggestion is that unused low level account nicknames would be made available for people who want to change their names possibly by deleting unused accounts from database (for example: accounts lvl 5 or under, and not used for 2 years). I'm sure there would be takers for quite a lot of names made available by this. I can't see losing 2 year old unused level 5 account making anyone upset and if someone deeply cares about his/her lvl 5 account all they need to do is to log on to it every now and then to prevent account deletion. Any thoughts? |

Adrazaelle already said in the official name change announcement that we won't be able to use old names. Would be kind of weird in all honesty to see a bunch of should be 2010 usernames being used by everybody in 2016. Nevertheless, I feel like Transformice should only delete alts as recent as 2013 so i'll half support this suggestion Dernière modification le 1470183180000 |

I honestly have mixed feelings about the topic of deleting accounts. *Will edit this when my paws get on a computer because I'm too lazy to type a lot on a kindle* |

Lol, I'm on my tablet too. I support this idea, old accounts should be deleted, if someone barely uses an account, why save it?? And it opens out some new names to ppl who just want to find a name, my friend on TFM has been desperate for an account on Transformice, yet all the names he chooses are GONE, unavailable. Suprodo a dit : I'm not sure if it just me but in my opinion it would be even more weird to let unused accounts which have one or two rounds played "rot" and needlessly reserve usernames. |

o_v a dit : It wouldn't effect your account because it is not level 5 or under as in the example I came up with in the main post. |

/Support Maybe change to accounts 2013 and older though, rather than just 2 years? I definetly agree though. Theres so many accounts with only a few rounds played, and if they're not active they probably never did and never will use the accounts. Would be nice to have more choices in username. I know I personally found that most of the names I was trying were taken... and they were accounts from 2010 with 2 rounds played. |

I know that it's frustating when you search for a name and all those cool names are taken already by players who only logged in 1 time to play 10 rounds and then never came back, but to delete their accounts without a warning isn't possible. You need to warn a user, for example via email, if the account gets deleted and give the user a deadline when to login that the account doesn't get deleted. The problem now is, that the most users who just logged in 1 time didn't validate an email adress and you can't just send them a message at the forums, since they'll never see it. It would be possible to add this as a new rule, for all accounts since summer 2016 for example and make it public that you have to validate your email adress to keep your account secure and to be safe when you turn inactive for some years/months. But I don't see any reason for this, if a name is taken you're able to add numbers, underscores, etc. The only positive I see here is the more secure account, lol. I don't see a need in deleting old accounts, just to get the name. Imagine you would turn inactive for some years and you'll come back and can't login anymore? Wouldn't you be curious what happened? Wouldn't you try to get your old name back? No support, since it's not possible to reach older users to warn them and a bad suprise for so many players would be terrible. |

Xelidoni a dit : I agree that accounts that have an email address should be warned but I also think that people who didn't bother to validate an email address to their account probably don't care that much about their account and thus don't need to be warned either. After all this is accounts with only few rounds played we are talking about. Xelidoni a dit : I think most people would have forgotten about their previous account and even if they didn't, an account deletion doesn't necessarily mean you lose the name and if it's still free when you return you can create a new account with it. Also in my opinion it's not reasonable to let accounts with couple rounds stats just stay in there forever. Game is about playing transformice, not about username reservation. |

The thing is the 2010 usernames don't even have an email associated to them and many of those names are rare. so yeah the names without an email associated and that haven't logged in in over half a decade should be deleted. And made available |
