Nice suggestion, I was about to post something similar. My idea is to add a repair function to Forge, Craft and Assembly tables. According to need to melt metal, or just piece/assemble parts together. Repairing the weapon adds "stress" to it, which causes it to lose durability faster. And adds a chance that further repairs could fail, breaking the weapon. The repair job would consume tools and the min kind and amount of resources we would get from recycling the weapon i.e: Kitchen knife would need a blade; Bow would require two woods and one rope, etc. This could also be governed by mastery of the weapon's recipe, making the amount of "stress" added to be variable. And it should also increase the recipe mastery, just as crafting and recycling does. Making it a third way to increase mastery of the recipe. |
