The Academy of Building tribe focuses on promoting building culture and on nurturing shaman talent by providing mentorship in a supportive, encouraging environment. Introduction: Greetings, mice! Are you struggling with building as a shaman OR feel that you would like to obtain a more profound understanding of TFM building physics? Do you love to build? The Academy of Building is now seeking prospective students who are passionate about challenging themselves and appreciate the beauty of well-structured, stable builds. We know that learning to build well is not easy, and we understand that TFM's current environment is unhelpful toward cultivating this ability. With the availability of skills, few players appreciate the value of a good build. In many rooms, players are often hard toward those attempting to learn any of the modes, hurling insults such as "noob," "dumb sham," "idiot," etc. Many are especially hard toward those who build without skills or with minimal skill use, claiming that it is “inefficient,” or “slow.” It can be difficult hearing such things from other players; understandably, shamming in normal rooms while learning can be both stressful and demoralizing. Therefore, consider learning with us where you can safely nurture your skills!
Some players may wonder if we are crazy. We certainly may seem insane, devoting hours and hours of time to thoroughly understanding TFM physics and creating amazing builds. However, we find it fun, and we are proud! So... Do you love building? Does your little sham heart adore a well-crafted build? Are you willing to practice like crazy? Do you feel bored when other shamans use springs, red/b nail, tape? Are you ready to take the next step toward becoming a shaman capable of matching TFM’s top-tier players? Have a look at some of our builds and decide for yourself if you would like to become a shaman master! Summary:
Here are our general rules. Of course, there are behaviors other than the ones listed here that can warrant your expulsion, and they are on a case-by-case basis. In general, just be kind to others and you'll do fine here. Note: these are tentative and may change at the Board of Trustees' discretion. Rules:
Upon joining the tribe, new members are given the "Applicant" rank and will remain at this rank for at least a week while deciding whether AoB is a good fit for them. After a week, applicants can ask to be tested to determine their grades in our four classes of building. Rank is determined by the highest grade on the building report card. Members can improve their building grades by taking another shaman test at least a month after their previous test. AoB Ranks: Head Trustee: The leader of AoB, who leads the Trustees in managing the tribe. Trustee: A member of AoBBoT (Academy of Building Board of Trustees), which is responsible for governing the tribe. Trustees are required to actively participate in the development of AoB, mediate conflicts, and provide rank tests upon request. The position is based on professionalism, commitment to AoB, reputation, teamwork, work ethic, and technical skills (example: video editing, coding, data management / analysis, etc.) rather than just building ability. AoBBoT is by invitation only. Ex-Trustee: A member of AoBBot who has either become inactive or has decided to give up their position. Ex-trustees are welcome to re-join AoBBoT at any time. Head Teacher: The teacher who has been elected as the head of the teachers. Duties required of the position include: gathering feedback from the teachers, voting on issues affecting the tribe, and working with building module developers to represent the interests of the teachers and students. Elections are held every three months (1/1, 4/1, 7/1, 10/1). Position(s): 1 Teacher: A member who teaches students. Teachers can host group lessons or provide individual or small-group instruction. Any member who meets the minimum prerequisite grade to teach may ask a member of AoBBot for the position. Being a teacher is a serious duty, so only those who enjoy helping others should apply. Student Council: A student who has been elected to represent the students. Duties required of the position include: gathering feedback from the students, voting on issues affecting the tribe, introducing new members to the culture / layout of the tribe.
