I hear of a lot of users on tfm who simply forget which email they used to link their account with (maybe they know their password and lost their email and would like to change their password for security reasons). Rather than have to contact an admin to get their linked email I think we should have an in-game command which gives the linked email. [•] Johnylanternhotstuff@hotmail.com Considering you have to actually know the password to the email in order to change your tfm password (if they're both the same and you get hacked, you were probably being stupid by giving out your password in the first place), I don't see this as compromising information for any accounts. It'd probably be a help to both users and admins. :P Yay'ers: 1: Johnlantern 2: Haruhitastic 3: Firebluestar 4: Lemodile 5: Oceanshine 6: Dusklightfur Nay'ers: 1: Griffincraft 2: Shinymoo I'm going to be too lazy to keep track of the above two lists more things: Shamousey a dit : Jordynl a dit : Ediz a dit : Bepperluver a dit : Dernière modification le 1406601300000 |

But if someone entered their account because the owner of the account accidentally left it open, they would do that command and see the email of that person Im not sure about this :L |

^ As said by griffin, the hacker can see the email, and easily change the password, sorry, this wont work out. |

how would they have access to the email to change the password though you guys didn't think that argument through lmao I see no harm in this being added, and it would save admins a ton of work. My support is yours John. Dernière modification le 1406005980000 |

Haru, if you go to "forgot password" in the log in center, and enter the email, you can change the password, this can hack people in VERY large ways. you could even get hacked too. |

shinymoo a dit : They would have to access your email's password as well. If someone had access to your email's password, then you'd probably have bigger problems to deal with than your profile on a mouse game. I honestly think you should be able to change your connected email as well in the same manner as you are able to change your password (having access to the previous email and verifying via code and maybe verifying the new email as well). This would only leave players who forgot their email's password (in which case your email usually can help it be recovered if you have security questions or something) and players whose emails have been discontinued. I overall just think it helps those players whom may need help with this sort of problem regarding their account who probably aren't online when the admins are awake. I'd recommend that the admins send out one email to all connected emails on Transformice about this change at least a month before so that players would have a chance to change their email password if it happened to be the same. I'd recommend posting about this update before integrating it around the same time as well. TFM is actually one of the few sites I know that doesn't allow you to view your connected email when you log in the account... shinymoo a dit : Do you know what happens when you fill that out? Same thing as if you logged in game. A code is sent to the connected email. You'd have to have access to the email. You'd have to know the password to the email. The only way I can help you think this through is that you right now could not access my tfm account if I told you just my connected email. You'd need the email password. shinymoo a dit : Like John pointed out, you still need access to the email account in order to change the password. So long as different passwords are used for both TFM and the email account, this should be pretty safe. This would save both the moderation and admins a lot of work and as such I fully support adding this. |

I'd rather have the ability to change emails too, but this'd definitely do for now until that functionality comes. If people can't keep their own accounts secure, that's not Atelier's fault or a reason to deny a feature that a lot of people would use. Perhaps they should be directed to this thread before linking an email account in the first place then. Dernière modification le 1406025060000 |

Shamousey a dit : I agree about the changing emails part as well, and I actually think we should be able to have both just in case one happened to forget their email. I think it'd be even less for the admins to deal with. Should only be able to be done through the same method one can change their password by though. It would be great if tfm instituted its own security question system for this as well but that'd be going a bit above and beyond, but one can hope! |

shinymoo a dit : There is no such thing as being hacked on this game; first and foremost. The only way your account is compromised is if you're dumb enough to make your password something like "password123" or give it to someone; or god help you, use a private server with the same credentials. Here, let me give an example of what John is saying too: My attached e-mail is abelha-rainha@hotmail.com. Go ahead. Try and access my account. You can't. Because you don't know my e-mail's password. Lemodile a dit : If you have the same password for your email that you do for in game, that's nobody's fault but your own. I'm pretty sure internet safety is taught in school now so this is basic knowledge. |

[/quote] Not the smartest idea, Haru. There are some extreme hackers, some get to hack into things without needing a password. I remember seeing a video that told about some people hacking into the FBI system. Although they might not bother with an Email, it’s smartest not to give it out :/ Just saying Dernière modification le 1406146320000 |

My e-mail is public on deviantArt, because I'm a freelance writer. I'm probably going to be "hacked" from there long before I am hacked on here, on which the closest to a "hacker" would be a script kiddie. Regardless, considering Hotmail hasn't had a security breach in AGES, I'm not going to worry. I'm twenty-one and I know internet safety, but thanks anyway for your concern. You completely missed the point by the way. Dernière modification le 1406172780000 |

I support this idea as well. Seems like a very helpful and useful addition. As for the worries about being hacked, it's been mentioned several times above, your email doesn't just 'get hacked' when someone knows it. That means I could be facing potential danger every time I send an email or give my email address to someone to contact me. If the person doesn't know the password (and you're smart enough to choose a safe one), there's no way they would be able to access and steal it. |

The suggestion in question doesn't even make your email public anyways so I don't know how it's an issue. Unless you're account sharing with someone else and don't want them to know your email, this shouldn't be a problem for anyone. |

Johnlantern a dit : They seem to see the issue in the possibility of a "hacker" (aka someone who gains access to their account) knowing the email and being able to hack that too. Not in the email being public and shared with other people. At least, that's what I believe is the issue. I personally see nothing wrong here. |

It would be great to have this feature, it would reduce the amount of emails send to the Transformice contact mail, support. |

Griffincraft a dit : The only two major ways people could break into her account without already knowing a password are brute forcing (trying every possible password combination of which billions are possible and you can only send a couple per minute on Hotmail) or hacking into Microsoft's servers, finding the database with her account information on, and decrypting the likely encoded password that's stored there (but they'd be facing an international lawsuit if they ever did this). Anyone with the processing power or skills to do either of these things certainly wouldn't use them to access the account of a random person in a mouse game considering the risk. Someone knowing your email address isn't something you should worry about, after all they were designed to be shared so people can send you mail. |
