It's Time for the Annual Map of the Year As per usual, were finishing the year off with a map to represent the year, and to represent our, or rather my hopes for next year. As per usual most of the stuff talked about is pretty controversial so I'm spoiling it. Since politics were heavily a part of this year it should be obvious I'll be talking a lot about politics, as well as some other topics. This is just a map/post reflecting off the year, this is NOT a debate thread, at least not a thread to debate politics, however if you wish to debate such, please speak about it here as I will be happy to discuss anything there. So, Happy New Year! My fellow map fans, now if you're not afraid of controversy, open up the spoiler below to see the Map of the Year and the post to go with it. 2016, A Year in Politics, and Getting Ready to Finish High School @6984290 - 2016 The Map of the Year So let's start talking, as anyone who's been here the past 3 years knows, and anyone who's seen the unpublished New Year's maps from the previous 5 years knows, I always make the map with the Seattle Space Needle, since you know I live in Washington and it's just a tradition as of now. So some of you may be asking; "Where's the Space Needle?..." Well that's it, under that elephants foot. Under the crushing giant Elephant foot of 2017. As you can see on the left lies a rainbow, with two birds, a black bird, and a blue bird, as well as in the center crushed under the Space Needle, is a light blue bird, as you can see from the light blue bloodied feathers. So before I start, I know the United States isn't the whole world and I'll be talking about Great Britain for a small portion later but I live in the United States, so that's mainly what I'm gonna be speaking about if you don't know about the things being talked about that's fine I encourage you to research them. So I think it's pretty obvious, the Elephant foot represents the United States Republican Party, here's the other stuff though, the light blue bird that was crushed, it's Hillary Clinton, the blue bird, Bernie Sanders, and the black bird is of course, President Obama. Now that you know about what everything in the map represents, lemme tell you a bit about myself, now when I was in elementary school somewhere around 5th to 6th grade, I can't remember I think it was 5th, but back then, Obama took up the United States presidency, I was happy for the guy mostly because when I was a kid I was hearing about this guy and I wanted him to win. Thing is though, I wanted him to win for the wrong reasons, I wanted him to win because he was black, that was a really ignorant way of thinking but you know I was a kid back then, and I'll talk some more about that later because I think it's really relevant with this year. I got more or less interested in politics when back in what was 5th or 6th grade, my small class of I think, 6? 7? We all wrote letters to what was the President Elect Obama, soon to be President, thing was, I actually got something back, now I'm pretty god damn sure it was a robot, or maybe the teacher just gave us a bunch of fake letters idk but it felt cool. Now i'd have saved the letter but I was just a kid back then, anyway, after the four years, I saw Obama was pretty good at his job, at least from my perspective. So the next election I didn't want him to win because he was black, I wanted him to win because he was pretty good. Now let me just say this guy was fucking awesome, and it has nothing to do with politics, this guy was awesome because he knew how to talk not just to the people, but the new people, the people who felt no one cared about our opinions, now I disagree with a lot of what he's done, I'd even say, the guy is possibly the main reason you got that elephant. But he truely did care, and I would even say he was literally the perfect model for 2016, as many of you know 2016 was riddled with all kinds of civil rights messages and groups, like 3rd wave Feminism, Black Lives Matter just to name the most popular ones, now those are wayyyyy too controversial to talk about here, so if you wanna talk about them, there's the link above, but the point is I felt Obama was a really great model because a lot of these groups refused to hear the opinions of others, they'd even censor people, I myself left the LGBT movement over all of it, yeah, I'm a bisexual man who openly does not want to be a part of the LGBT movement now. To say the least, clearly people felt something was wrong with civil rights this year, and Obama saw that too. The guy openly told colleges and other groups not to block out controversial opinions. And something I realized today that I wasn't able to as a kid, Obama never used his race as a reason to vote for him, he didn't say we need a black president in office because we've never had one before, he said we needed change, now I don't think he changed much, but I'd be lying if I said he wasn't a perfect role model and I hate to see the guy go out the window, but oh well. This is so important to realize in the upcoming year, Obama saw real equality, he took race, sex, and all kinds and disregarded them. We need to do this in the upcoming year. Now a lot on the left are likely going "yeah take that right we told you," but, no infact, this advice mainly is for the left. Remember, Obama never said he should be president because he was black, he offered change. He disregarded race, he didn't use it to his advantage. I can only hope people understand just how heavily important this is for 2017. No one should be judged for being white, black, asian, or anything really. So now let's talk specifically about this election season, you know this isn't about the past this is about the now. Let me just say I had soooo much fun debating with countless people about politics for this year. I ended up being the head in my government class for debating, constantly debating the teacher. I literally even voted for the first time ever this year. This is me voting for the first time, I felt awesome for it I ended up with the idea in mind that the enemy of my enemy is my friend, so I voted for Donald Trump. Now I have my own reasons for why I voted, they mostly had to do with Syria, Russia, and the threat of a Nuclear War as a result of Syria. This was the first year I got to watch an election, I ended up watching the full election from 18:00 to 24:00 on The Drunken Peasants Podcast and it was awesome, TJ and his brother Scotty, the people who run the podcast made a $1000 dollar bet on who would win the election, Scotty bet Clinton, and TJ bet Trump. It was hilarious watching the Podcast and I can't wait for 4 years to watch another one. If you want to see the Podcast you can find it here. There's way too much to talk about for this year in terms of politics, so I just wanna leave off with this before I go into the next bit. I think we all need to reflect off Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Trump, specifically this. Donald Trump said, "Make America Great Again" and Hillary said, "America's already great" now regardless of if you agree with Mr. Trump or Mrs. Clinton, I think we can all agree, America isn't great. Now what does this mean? When you take everything that happened this year, Brexit, the US election, etc, people wanted change. So much that people were willing to say "screw this let's hang with that racist dude over there at least they wanna change this." So for 2017, this is a pretty simple thing I want you all to focus on, let's focus on change. That means admitting were not as good as we always thought, that we need to change, now I need to change and I think we honestly all need to change. I'm gonna focus on changing myself for this new year, you should too. So now were out of the red zone phew no more politics. Now, let's talk about finishing High School, cause guess what, in 2 months I graduate! I started High School a bit after I started map making. To say I'm excited is an understatement. I've grown up my whole life with my family thinking I'd quit, thinking I'd drop out, well, they were wrong, I'm just about to graduate and I've become more successful than any of them. Once I've graduated I plan to try to get a job at verizon, or just somewhere techy and try to get a job working at the SeaTac airport. But who knows my future could go anywhere. This is my senior year book, and yes, it says Wasjington, it's fucking perfect I love it. Once I've graduated, I have a very special plan for something I'm gonna do on the forums so give in two months and you'll see. Over all I have a really big dream after High School, I just wanna be a scientist. Science has always guided me, it's guided me in politics, map making, school, everything. This 2017, I'm gonna be able to put myself to the test in the job market and try to become the scientist I want to become. And believe me you guys, my fans have been with me all the way, so the moment I get a job, the moment I become truly independent, were gonna celebrate. It'll be awesome. Thank you for tuning into the Annual Map of the Year, and I hope this 2017 I'll have great news for you all. As a last note, 17 is my favorite/my lucky number, so, I guess this year will be extra special. Full of Mousechris. |
