So I've been wondering about contests in the past, and thought I'd make a poll about this..

So my question is, does Transformice lack in official contests, in-game events to gain cheese, fraises?

It doesn't have to be making a map, or doing something huge, but it could be something, that anyone could do, and anyone could win or finish it, with some dedication and playing. Something that would make players happy, and be fun at same time

(This vote does not affect holidays like Halloween or Christmas)

Feel free to write your thought's and opinions. Ideas for events are welcome too!

TFM runs more events than you'd expect for a small gaming company.
The fact that there's not many ways to earn Berries is because that's what helps the game stay afloat. No income = no game or mass amounts of in-game ads.

Also saying that events like Christmas and Halloween aren't included in this is kind of odd, in my opinion. There's tons of holiday events that still let you gain cheese and collect items/titles. I personally feel like too many players are looking for an easy handout to get berries and cheese when all you really have to do to get any items..is play. I don't recall any item ever being cash purchase only.

End rant.

I think it's more of a community event they're talking about, not a game event. Though I'm unsure because of their odd wording.
You know, like those cosplaying and draw-a-fur event stuff Atelier801 had? Those would be nice again.
I think Atelier801 could do with some more community events, something to gather the players. While game events DO make people gather around, it doesn't quite feel like a community to me. Though I may be mistaken so feel free to critique me.

Yeah I agree it would be great to have more official contests, some sort of quirky things that players or moderators couldn't really do, especially some forum contests. The type of forum contest where codes are hidden around the forum website in official threads, admin profiles etc. could be a lot of fun. This helps get people to check out threads and sections they otherwise wouldn't have thought of. Depending on circumstances, I will attempt to run, or assist in running a survivor and/or racing contest after my bootcamp competition comes to a close. There could also be official (admin run) art, module, cosplay etc. contests.

Some of those used to happen regularly, the art contests I mean. Vulli had a title from one.

I feel like since A801 became a company they've become more... cold. So it'd be nice if they opened up.

Their wording is really awk, isn't it? Also, they already have like eight million concept furs right now, so that's something they probably wouldn't do because of the fact that it would just cause even more clutter, you know? The cosplaying would be nice to bring back, though. I would +1 that.
Art contests I feel like not everyone has a fair chance to win, since some people try their hardest and things come out worse than a stick figure. Same with writing contests and such. Someone is always going to be left out since there's not /too/ much that literally EVERY player could do.

That's why I prefer the in-game events. Everyone has pretty much an equal shot at the same things everyone else does as long as they play. (Though I have to agree with some other players that having to buy event items now instead of playing to unlock is a huuuuge downer.)

I don't really think that's a good argument against having contests. The whole point of a contest like that is to demonstrate creativity, and it's something fun that everyone can participate in no matter what your skill level is. If you have the most basic grasp of the english language and MS paint you can enter those contests. It shouldn't be entirely about winning.

Besides, no one is born with a magnificent ability to write about or draw cartoon mice. Those things take practice and everyone starts out with those "worse than stick figure" drawings. It's not unfair that some people have taken more time to practice than most.

I didn't say I was arguing against contests, did I? I was pointing out that the OP said, "but it could be something, that anyone could do, and anyone could win or finish it" and that there's really not much of a widespread thing that every player has an equal chance to win. They could enter it, yes, but it's moot if you lack the skill/training. And it's not always about practice, either. I have friends that try their hardest working on bettering themselves at art and just can't, while I've always just been able to draw things pretty well and never practice at all. It goes the same with writing, sometimes the imagination isn't always that strong in some while it is in others.

My point was not at all against contests. It was stating that, although anyone could enter, people with less talents have no chances of placing. The only way this could be remedied is if they had levels of skill type, which then I would say go for it completely. It would give different skill levels a fighting chance to have fun and still place because it would be a little more fair.

Understand what I mean? :p

But if you thinking something like that then this is true for EVERYTHING.
For example cosplay contest: if you have more money, you can do better custome.
In-game contest: if you play everyday and you started the game a long time ago you are better than the other players.

I always tried to be better in the Transformice game but just couldn't.

I think It should be more categories. For example if Atelier801 made an art or writing contest it should be something like this:
during 13 years old
13 - 15 years old
16 and above years old
or something liket that.

Or made categories about skills - beginner, middle level, advanced. (but I think it's not so good, because someone can't decide what category is he/she)
______

Or Atelier801 should do double contest. For example an art contest and an in-game contest at the same time.

It's not because something is super neat that it will win... In my opinion, something well thought or funny might get more votes!

Categories could be a good idea though :)

Btw I love contests <3 I love to see people's creativity and how they can think about stuff that wouldn't even cross my mind.

Please god no age catagories.
How about catagories based on where they, the contestants, view themselves as for experience?

In terms of Game events (those with event maps and all), i feel it is enough. Knowing how long and tedious making these events are, and how the LUA Team are contributing (Christmas and Children's Day), to me it is totally alright.

The one which i feel is lacking which are probably forum events etc, like what most of you guys are referring to.
BUT i am not surprise, and in fact i rather them not think of those yet.
They have many pending projects for their 4 games (Excluding Celousco), the important ones are still not released.
They are unstable in my point of view and I rather them get a proper foundation before adding anything extra like contests and stuff.

Even before the latest announcement I think we had far more events than any other game I'd played. Now we'll have events running constantly, I'm sure no-one can say there'll be a lack of them.
