I like when a character gets the crap kicked out of them and just can't win. Power of Friendship gets on my nerves more than any anime armor..

Depends on your preference of genre.
But if you're interested in murder-like mysteries, and more specifically, than happen in high school, I've been watching Danganronpa and it's definitely an eye-catcher.
If you want a good humor-based one, One Punch man is great as well.

However, on the last episode of Kill la Kill somewhere around where the ending song plays, if you paid attention to Mako's clothes its hint that Nui is still alive. (My opinion)

school days was shocking and honestly really bad, weird camera angles and dialogue

Just finished watch all 3 seasons of Shakugan no Shana.

Also, I'm absolutely in love with Kyoto Animation art. I mean just look at the recently announced Violet Evergarden's short trailer. They're really stepping up their game even after Hibike Euphonium.
