pretty sure I joined this game when I was seven, and I was already lying about my age on websites back then. adding something to put in your age would literally have like zero affect on who joins this game.

I see a lot of people bein' rude to the younger, more immature players and it gets on my nerves because, well, chances are at some point in your life, you were about as annoying as them. Being rude to them accomplishes nothing other than possibly upsetting them, which is, frankly, not a good thing to do. The best thing to do is ignore them, but apparently no one on this game is capable of doing that lmao.
I've also seen others complaining about cussing, and I think someone even tried to report me for it once? heh, nevermind that. This is a game with free chat, so u gotta expect some perhaps unwanted language, y'know?
I could say "there's a filter", but that only blocks a portion of the vulgar language. TFM should prolly listen to people's suggestion of letting us choose what to block.

As for the older players... honestly, who cares? It's a fun mouse game for everyone. It's their life, their choice.

Honestly, when it comes to the internet, especially an mmo game, maturity is rarely determined by age. I believe its mostly determined by personality, intelligence, and amount of time dedicated to the game.

Also, asking users if they are over 13 is useless, a 9 year old is well smart enough to know how to fake his age, especially for a cute mouse game. (Hell, I was already playing online chat mmos at 9) And trying to prevent or separate players of multiple ages to play together is not a sensible solution (plus it adds an ageist view on things)

I think a (better) optional chat filter for ANYONE who does not wish to see cussing in a room is fine./skip for music rooms functions well and if not, there are plenty of music rooms to join. /ignore Is also a thing, if a person is acting in a way you dont like, ignoring them shows more maturity than trying to get them away from the game.

One thing is for sure, the internet exists and there is nothing to stop children and teens from accessing it.

Age is not the problem , maturity is.
The real reason age is considered a problem, is the fact that the majority of youngsters (13- or 14-) are immature, this is due to the lack of understanding alongside having fun

A mature person will have fun as it's supposed to be played, and uses the chat to have a conversation, speak to his friends nicely ...
An immature person however, finds his fun in ruining the game for others (aka spamming , flaming , "raging" even though I learnt they are not actually mad, ...)

It's hard to guess if someone is mature or not without checking it in person, so most game companies set being underage as a restriction from playing (note that Atelier801 didn't set this restriction in-game but it does mention it)

I'm sure someone said this before me but it's better to be reminded of it

Totally agree. The real thing that upsets me is why aren't their parents watching the game they're playing?
