I guess it's because some people think all furries are 'zoophiles' or support bestiality. It's really gross, because some people, like myself, wouldn't even date a human. Generalization and stereotypes just ruin everything.

Furry is a hobby. An expensive one depending on how far you want to go with it.

I don't know what's worse, people actually spend more than just $100 on an imaginary cat or the fact that someone made those prices anyway.

While I won't be able to help you directly (I'm not much of a roleplayer), there are a lot of roleplaying websites I'm sure you could look through to find some other furry friends.
And you shouldn't be hated for what you like. You can't really help it. Try your best to avoid negativity. Out of the 7,000,000,000+ living people on this planet, someone is bound to relate to you. Keep searching.
