No, From book 1 he started out as Rusty, A kittypet.
Then when LionHeart and WhiteStorm guided him to camp the day he said he will join ThunderClan, Halftail got made, fought with him, and broke his collar off. Then the cats starts to approve 'FirePaw'. Later he proved himself a warrior in a battle with driving Shadowclan out, and became a warrior. After he helped BlueStar with Tigerclaw cause he turned his back on her, He became deputy. Then a dog pack chased FireHeart and Bluestar jumped in to save him. She had no other choice but to jump off the river's edge into the river, and drowend making FireHeart leader of ThunderClan as 'FireStar'

I make up my own warrior names on a piece of paper, but I have 2 papers filled with names.

plus i don't want to spoil the books but that's kinda late

my favorite cats are bluestar and belive it or not scourge mostly because i like bothe of their stories but if i had to pick just one it would be scourge I AM NOT GONNA SPOIL DA BOOKS even though i know :)
