I'm assuming these times are based off Brute Force cracking, yes?

well me trying to crack a winrar file with a pass of 4-10 characters including cases numerals and symbols will take days, so if your pass contains a symbol it really makes it that much safer lol

Edit: Does anyone know if rainbow tables are faster than brute force?

If you were doing brute force manually, you must remember that a computer will be always faster than you. Way faster.

Cracking human passwords it's pretty much all about luck so it's not really easy to say.

Edit: I investigated a little further, and /in most cases/ rainbow tables should be faster, yes.

This thing factors in length exponentially--more so than length should already affect security which I know is a lot. Shorter (8 character) passwords are extremely underplayed in this thing (all roundabouts under an hour regardless of complexity).
