Same with me. When I can't sleep at night I just look around the room. And watching for movements around.

Read or think. But thinking is usually the reason I haven't fallen asleep in the first place, so reading works much better. Not only does it get my mind off of whatever is keeping me up, it exercises my eyes and my brain enough to help tire them out. Obviously I need to read a decently challenging book to achieve that, though.
