I'm not sure about the US since I don't have a 3DS yet, but I know that in some countries the game isn't even out yet, like the UK.

Also maybe you should mail your villagers some cherries and then restart the game, hopefully they'll send you some foreign fruit if it's like older games!

Well with restart I just meant save, close and then open the game again. I hate time travelling and such too!
