I literally spent 15 dollars to change my name and have it be unique nd now theyre giving every1 and their mothers a name change + the ability to have literally any username, sounds fair doesn't it lol

hey guys we basically scammed u out of 15 dollars but its ok bc u get a free name change lol even though u wanted the username u have now badly enough to spend money for it

that's like, I bought my nickname of this 15 bucks (in polish 60 PLN, but we have to notice that there are lower payments in work)
this idea is just fatal in my opinion
I can imagine this problems with stoling a nickname, personality and just impersonate like I said lol
that's just a little unfair for people who bought for nickname change tbh
but hey, we have probably second, third year in a row with same or similar events, keep it up Atelier, great job!

everything is nice, but why instead of creating new events you're trying to change nickname system...? I don't really like this idea, because now other people can impersonate other users ;/ I'd prefer new possibilities with creating a nickname, for example special signs or capital letters, but do as you wish ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I agree, that would be a nice idea. There would be so many more possibilities for names: creative use of characters, emoticons, references... Maybe they should add that instead, I'm sure there would be much less backslash. Less arguments and polarizing debates. Exponential increase of the amount of possible usernames...

that would also increase availability of nicknames, without any arguments like "hey you stole my nick change it instantly!!111"
I'm really against of hashtag idea. discord is discord - this is a really big community, there are milion servers and, hey, it's a comunicator to talk. we also have forums, chats, tribes. but can you imagine for example six, seven, i dunno a few of the same nicknames in room or tribe? or the army of clones, lol
and then, if someone don't remember your hashtag, how could he know which person is you?

The negatives and reasons why people don't think this is a good idea have pretty much already been stated, so these are some alternative methods/routes that the developers could go down instead:


• Allow for more symbols to be used in our names

Many names that players might want to have that are taken have a higher chance of being obtained if more symbols are added. Mouse, Mouse_ and Mouse1 aren't many options compared to Mouse*, Mouse^ and Mouse! (To name a few)

• Rename inactive accounts to guest names, for example 'James' to 'Souris_11111b'

Quite a controversial one, but I believe it could work, given the thought and time put into it. This happens in all games, but we all know that there are those people who 'steal' a name, by taking it and never playing the game or trying it for almost no time at all and then quit. It's annoying because the name could be put to much better use and an active player would appreciate it a lot more.

So, let's say an account that hasn't been used in a long time gets their name 'reset' because of this, so that others can take the name and put it to good use. IF the original owner of that name decides to log back into the game after all those months/years of inactivity, then let's say their old name works on the FIRST login after their reset ONLY, so they are able to see that their name was changed (There would be a popup/notice to explain what happened with the inactivity and explaining their new name, and also the free name change would be in place too so they could remove the spam/guest name). This wouldn't be too much of an issue since passwords vary so they wouldn't be logging into the NEW owner of their old name.

Next we get to the crucial part, the inactivity period. Here's how it could work:

Your name gets wiped/changed to a guest name for inactivity if:

• You have been inactive for over 4 years
• You haven't played AT ALL since creating the name/account

It might also be desirable to change the amount of years based on whether the account has had any fraise purchases, and potentially also based on the overall time played (Displayed by the /time command in-game).

If added correctly, I think one or both of these options being added would help the 'unable to get the name I want' issue without having the problems and negatives many have already expressed in this thread.
