I prevented this from happening by going through my activity log on my DS and changing the date on my DS back to around the day that I last played... lol. It took me a couple of tries to get the day right to ensure Zell didn't move. I used the bulletin board as a clue as well (the last posting around the period where I quit playing), and checked by creating a new character rather than loading up one of my existing characters.
