Kids will find out that Santa isn't real eventually, so the sooner the better.
Oh, and just so you know kids who still believe in Santa, simply DON'T write any letter anywhere and see how pissed your parents will be.
E: Or is it just my country where children write letters to "Santa" and asking for presnets?

it keeps those demons in line, threatening them to behave otherwise they get no presents for being naughty

allow kids to grow out of the belief; i find younger kids who believe in santa tend to enjoy it far more than those who no longer do
