Don't touch Amazon for the time being

I changed the password and then cleared my browsing history including cookies and stuff. Will that be okay if I just leave it?
Wait can I go on Facebook and stuff without my life being at risk?

Probably... I have an iTunes account as well but I can't change my password on that and I won't change my email for that... Is that infected?

Wait why are we all freaking out? It's the site owners who have to deal with this shit. They give us their word that they will keep our details private, so if money gets stolen, just get the police to sort it out.

Please don't overreact or cause unneeded panic.

These types of bugs have existed for over a decade. - What makes this one so unique?
Is it for the sole reason that an American government server shut down? Hackers/bugs have manipulated/shut down the American government's servers before. This is also because they've specifically been targeting this particular server. Why? Because it's one of the biggest accomplishments for a hacker to reach into such a secure server.

So why would this particular bug affect us? I highly doubt it's targeting us. We're "normal" civil people, most of us aren't that very rich, or famous. So I'll ask again: Why is this one bug so unique?

How about stop with the unneeded armageddon freakouts? It's not like this is the first and only threat in the whole world.

No, it's likely unrelated.

A friend shared the in-depth stuff:
An easy-to-use exploit that is being widely traded online allows an attacker to retrieve private memory of an application that uses the vulnerable OpenSSL “libssl” library in chunks of 64kb at a time. As CERT notes, an attacker can repeatedly leverage the vulnerability to retrieve as many 64k chunks of memory as are necessary to retrieve the intended secrets.

Popular sites which exhibit support for the TLS heartbeat extension include Twitter, GitHub, Yahoo, Tumblr, Steam, DropBox, HypoVereinsbank, PostFinance, Regents Bank, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, and the anonymous search engine DuckDuckGo.

And to put it into simple terms, they were stealing the information on their own; there's no hijacking of websites to get it, no viruses on your PC. Don't worry.
