Update! In a disturbing twist of events, the group of twelve was cut down to eight. Survival of the fittest means the delicious do not survive, I suppose. It seems adding dog food to the mother's diet resolved this though.
Anyway, despite this, they at least let the prettiest babies live. We're officially entering pocket kitten stage, and it's amazing how shiny some of them are. And yes, they feel remarkably soft now.









Also, a third female mouse I have is pregnant and due very soon. That means more little wiggle worms who will eventually become pocket kittens as well.

Unfortunately for the black ones, two of them are males. With a few exceptions, I can't keep males, since males fight with other males and they forcefully breed with females. In other words, that means they tend to need their own enclosures. I am already keeping two full grown males as it is, (one of which is the father to the litter) and I'll probably be ridding one of those adult males so I can make room for one of the grey spotted babies in this litter since one is a boy. Speaking of which, the spotted ones as well as our albino are certainly my keepers.
I'm surprised by the fact that most of this group are females though. Females can live in colonies at least; it just means you end up with an enclosure full of piss and mouse poop real quick. But that's better than bloody fighting and unwarranted breeding at least!

And I love how mouse and rat moms will just condense all their kids into one single nest.

I keep some as pets and some end up as snake food, depending on both how they look and how the act. (I do not let biters live; aggressive rodents are no fun at all)
I wouldn't mind giving a few away, but the opportunity hasn't presented itself yet.

Pic I took today. Eyes are open, although you can't tell in this pic since they're not shown, but the male (darker) blue pied and the albino both have one irritated eye each. Multi-symptom relief eyedrops seem to do the trick though. They're super adorbs at this point.
