I regret this from years ago, I was like 9 and my cousin 8

We both were impatient to go buying sweets at the little market [It’s a town] and we decided to sneak away without my older cousin [This is what I regret doing..], who was just one year older than me.
He had gone to leave something [Dont remember, likely it’s grains for the chickens or payment for something] over at his grandfather’s shop thingy.. [To be honest I dont know if it’s a shop. I dont know what anything is there. Look up San Isidro, Ecuador. That’s where it is. It doesnt look like one of those very clean towns, it’s rather more in the country.. I dont know how to explain]

So we took off. It was a good distance away from the house, but we knew our way because overall we knew our way around the entire town and we were allowed to go alone, since we knew various people in the town that we trusted [Relatives and all. Yeah I know, shocking. No seriously-- Most of my mom’s side of the family tree lives in San Isidro.]. We honestly thought bullshit and decided to go through a “shortcut”, AKA over the tall mountain. That was pretty stupid of us, because the neighborhood on the other side of that tall hill was pretty dangerous.
AKA people got drunk far too often.

We went over and bought our sweets alongside what they asked us to buy-- Hair dye and some medicine. As we were walking back, this man came up to us, and he was all drunk and shit. I had seen him before he started to follow us and I honestly felt like “Bullshit we’re fucked”. The man approached us and said “Hey, pretty girls, beautiful girls..” I honestly was scared shitless because he grabbed our hair as he spoke. Both me and my cousin started running, which was kinda hard since we had flip flops, and then he yelled behind us “Run, run! Or else I’ll get you and I’ll kill you!” Today I’m sure that he wasnt being serious, but that gave me a big scare when I was younger.

And I fucking hated it when no one believed us when we got home. Goddamnit.
