It's a lot easier to save treasure for genes compared to gems. Even though most gem genes are 800kT~1milT on the AH -- Just from my personal experiences because I feel like treasure comes in bigger numbers compared to gems and buyers are more likely to have treasure and will be more willing to spend it rather than gems.

You can also buy gems with treasure from trusted users, however that's a slippery slop that I don't hope to have to go down.
