I always found easier to add the taxes on first then subtract the sale price from the number and you get your final answer. But hey this is the girl who passed all her math classes with 50%

:D

Well that's not all true I never tried but when I did I got 80-90% in Math class

Mizomause a dit :
Well

4

Okay, lets begin with our whole number and fraction.

Our denominator is 4 so what we would have to do is use that denominator and multiply it by our whole number which is 2.

4*2=8

After we get our answer, we use our answer to divide it by the numerator.

8/1=8

So our numerator is 8 and if you didn't know already, you always take your denominator when turning the whole number and the fraction into an improper fraction.

So since our denominator is 4 we use that with the answer we got so it would be

8
-
4

To find the numerator when this mixed number is shown as an improper fraction, use addition.

9 1 9
- + - = -
4 4 4

The addition is now simpler because the whole numbers have been eliminated, leaving only two fractions.

9 4
- +-
4 1

4 is the common denominator for the fractions.

9 4 4
- +- * -
4 1 4

Now the fractions have the same denominators and the numerators can be added. Add the NUMERATORS ONLY leaving the denominators unchanged.

9 16
- + -
4 4

So it would be 25
-
4

Divide the numerator, '25' by the denominator, '4', to get 6 with remainder 1. The remainder is the new numerator. The quotient, '6', becomes the whole number in the mixed number.

Answer is 6 1/4 <-----it's a fraction just incase you were unaware.

No, after you get 8, you add the 1 not divide it. Why would you divide it???????

I read it as 2(0.25) then all of that divided by 4 and in that case, the answer would be 1/8. But I assume that was miscomprehension?
