Becuase technically you ARE one year closer to death. If you were to die at 90 and you turned from 10 to 11, you'd be one year closer to death. Also because we like ruining your day.

I want to kick people's butts if they're saying that. People shouldn't just ruining a person's birthday, they must say "jk" or it might be real. If you say that on real life on a 8-year older, she/he might cry the crap out because she/he likes her birthday. if it cried, her/his feelings must be hurt and is truely scared as crap.
