I quit Transformice a long time ago. The game is clearly dying, so you should use this successful basic idea about mice reaching for cheese to create other games like indie RPGs. Hell, even a Transformice Battle Royale would be alright, even though this genre is very, very recycled.
Promoting through popular YouTube or Twitch streamers would also help a little.

But I don't even know anymore. Transformice was doomed the moment you made the game clustered. Patch by patch it became less fun. You dumbed it down by adding these annoying shaman abilities and then made the community even more toxic with the badly moderated cafe. Add the unending not at all fulfilling events and you can see the big picture. At least the game isn't pay2win.

First of all: Happy to Transformice! 8 years already and I joined in the fourth year.
It's been a great time and I haven't met a lot of my friends that I have now if TFM didn't exist back then. I probably would still be the loner no one wants to be friends with. Transformice made it worth for me meeting new people.
TFM is the reason I learned how to draw.

Now I am sitting here - a game that is dying and is trying to survive.
I saw a lot of good suggestions in here, what to delete and what to change/improve.

You still have a lot of players that are supporting you - just don't overdo it again.
TFM still has a great potential.

Happy Birthday!
But I really wanna to say that it's sad. And this game has changed a lot. Not in a good way for me. It was pretty game. You can call it simple in some way...but u know, this game that existed till u added this superpowers for shamans, it wasn't borring or "so simple". It was interesting to compete with other players, to play on events, to play minigames. Not this card games... Where is baffbot? What the hell are shops? No. Really? Is it MMO or something? Events with no possibilities to have some things WITHOUT sellers? It makes me so sad
There is no way to take it as a Transformice. It's an other now...
It's just my opinion (and I sorry for my Eng).
But I think it's gonna be a lot better if you will not change gameplay anymore. Just add some events.

This is an excellent point. It’s what I tried to explain in my post, we added so many things to Transformice that it’s barely the same game as in 2010 anymore. Most of people would suggest “maybe add this, and that” to make the game better, but the truth is that the game would be better if we actually removed some features. This is why we tried to remove skills from Vanilla over Christmas.
But as this experiment showed, people are not ready for feature removal, which is understandable. We can’t add anything, but we can’t go back either. It’s a bit of a stuck situation.

Avisamos que essas habilidades de shaman iriam destruir o jogo no futuro. Depois de 4 anos com elas ativadas vcs decidem desativar ? .Agora é tarde de mais, os mimados já se acostumaram com elas. Muito triste com o erro de vocês...

thank you admins for all the work u put into this game and the many others! happy mouse birthday and hopefully there are many more to come.

a sweet comment for once in my life
this game has changed my life in so many ways. before i even knew about transformice, i was extremely nerdy and obsessed with warrior cats and animal jam. i found out about transformice through an animal jam video (sadly, i was pretty cringey) and honestly i’m so glad i did.

without this game, i wouldn’t have made so many friends i hold dearly to me and i would have never learnt many lessons i know now. i’ve seen so many diverse people on here and i’ve basically upped my cool at school too. with this game, i’ve also been able to be even better friends with my now best friend ever irl, icymochi.

around 2016 i introduced her to it and even though literally all we did was gather cheese, tease eachother, talk about school, and cause a light chat in a quiet room, we got closer. it came from casual playing to eventually doing tennis together and knowing a ton about eachother. i didn’t even realize how similar we were.

i just want to thank atelier801 for being the place where i’ve matured in good and bad ways over the years. i’m still REALLY young, but i’ve changed a lot, and i’m sure if you found my old posts you can tell lol.. i’ve become less narcissistic and driven for power, and i’ve found that being nice is good but stating opinions is also important. the community can be slightly toxic but i’ve found ways to stop arguments from happening if they’re meaningless: by keeping my mouth shut. i’ve also learned that everyone here (or well almost everyone) is human, just knowing that makes me at peace, because we are the same in that way.

i’m rambling now but i can’t describe in words how much this game has changed my life: it’s opened my eyes to the world and taught me that everything here is precious. i just want to thank the community and admins for that.

1. happy birthday
2. i've been playing this since 2010 so i've seen the game rise, peak and subsequently fall off completely

my opinions:

1. you should close bouboum and fortoresse. they are a waste of resources as they are clones of other games
2. relaunch Nekodancer in HTML5 because this was your other game that had the most potential (more than Dead Maze, I'll get to that in a bit), but it was eventually doomed because of the whole Flash Player obsolescence (that was not really your fault because Flash was still alive when you launched the game, but you could have really implemented a Level Editor to have made it more attractive).
3. Dead Maze is not a good MMORPG as it is incredibly grindey and repetitive, and the worst part is you still chose to make it in Flash despite the fact that Flash was already being phased out at the time you guys started (or was probably less than halfway through making the game). I'm pretty disappointed in it, but Meli your cutscene artwork for that game was amazing and I feel like you should use your artistic talents commercially beyond A801's games... perhaps do art works for other games/companies as a part of what A801 does?? At least that would help provide an additional revenue stream for your company.
4. TFM has certainly changed a whole lot between 2010 and 2018. Perhaps when you close Bouboum and Fortoresse (as per my suggestions above), you can redeploy the (server) resources to launch.... TFM "Classic". This should be a version of the game from before 2013, but leaving in the more constructive updates (Bootcamp, Fraises, Divinity, and modules. I don't think anything else should be included). This way you can provide the original game that the most people loved. It should also not be too difficult to implement since the core of all that would literally be something that was already published and basically known to be a working game. This game should not be updated in terms of features, but only for adding furs and *maybe* titles. Also, TFM Classic should only have 4-5 events per year as back then you only did events for the major holidays + fishing; having too many events is honestly a bit overwhelming and also leads to you guys running out of ideas for events (although for Classic TFM I'd suggest setting only 2 versions of each event and alternating between them each year to keep things simple on your end).
5. Continue working on TFM HTML5 and perhaps launch it as TFM 2 just like how Maplestory remade their game in 3D and is now launching that soon while keeping the original going. To be honest between your two games I see a very similar history - almost universally praised in the early years and then eventually a big change (for me that change was fraises, for others it was shaman skills) that everyone detested and subsequent decline.
6. implement your own leaderboard although I feel like i might get flak for this suggestion because CFM/Anvil God which aren't part of A801, and that would kill their community forever (although it barely even exists as it is now, so....). Further to that, just like how CFM had that map database, you could also put in a browser-based map viewer perhaps? Something that works with a combination of mapcodes, mapmaker name and categories. (Would probably be easier to do once the game is HTML5, the info might be easier to pull from the map database then)

You guys can make it through this as long as you start thinking rationally!!

Anomunus a dit :

TFM has certainly changed a whole lot between 2010 and 2018. Perhaps when you close Bouboum and Fortoresse (as per my suggestions above), you can redeploy the resources to launch.... TFM "Classic".

Much like how Runescape made oldschool servers (which have now surpassed the main game in playerbase), I would enjoy a classic tfm. This would honestly quell most of my frustration with the game. Have it include divine mode, but be pre-skills and I would be in.

As far as the constant events go , they're really counter-intuitive. You make all these events to attract players, when you really desperately need to be fixing the gameplay. People should actually want to go into a normal/vanilla room because they want to play transformice, not because they need 50 more door knobs. Make the game more challenging by adding a bigger emphasis on shaman and nerfing (or removing) the OP skills from hard and divine mode. When players see intricate and interesting builds in divinity and spiritual, they're compelled to learn to do those things themselves. Right now all people have to look forward to is unlocking duct tape.
