hi im stupid but im rly confused
ok
so
11. Amy is dealing with 52 cards. After dealing cards to the first player, she has 50 cards left. After dealing to the second player, she has 49 cards left. After dealing with the third player, she has 47 cards left. After dealing to the fourth player, she has 46 cards left. Amy deals the cards the same way to each player. What is the pattern that Amy is dealing the cards to the fourth players?

it's a two pattern equation, like say it was ''divide by 2, +1''
im so confsued and im terrible and spotting pattrerns
im sorry

The pattern is - 2, then - 1.

52 - 2 = 50
50 - 1 = 49
49 - 2 = 47
47 - 1 = 46

guys, I'm preparing for my C1, C2 and M1 exams and there's some stuff I'm having trouble with
you know for something like:
125/225^2/3 which would then become √(125/225)^3
how can I find the square root of that in 2 minutes? (the usual no. of marks they are.) I'm not allowed a calculator so
any methods would be super helpful!

Guys, I am truly desperate

My Chemistry exam is on next Monday, and I WILL FAIL.

I don't understand how to name ionic compounds containing polyatomic ions. Like, I can name ionic compounds and a little memorising will get me through covalent compounds, but for the above....just CAN'T...

I really really need a fool-proof explanation because I'm a really dumb person who somehow got into a top school and who is now literally dying.

Note: I understand valency. Kinda. (Cation is the +Valency and Anion is the -Valency, right?)

Also, is memorising the ONLY way to name acidic and alkaline...uh...solutions?

I need to remember these:

Note: I know I spelt stuff wrongly, sorry.

Please please help me >_> thanks!

Multiplication facts explained if you have other multiplying questions

The number you're multiplying is either the first or second

The other number is how many times you're multiplying

Like for example

12 x 4

12 + 12 + 12 + 12 = 48

or reversed

4 x 12

4 + 4 + 4 + 4 + 4 +.. and so on until there's 12 fours

Done

how do you do these?

1. 18 x 5 + 18 x l?l = 18(5 + n)

2. use the associative property of addition and the distributive property to justify that a(b + c + d) = ab + ac + ad

2. use the associative property of addition and the distributive property to justify that a(b + c + d) = ab + ac + ad

what does the l?l mean? does it mean you are trying to find it?

if so, here's how to do it.

1. 18 x 5 + 18 x ? = 18(5 + n)

what you are doing here is, i think factorising?
because 18(5 + n), you are basically doing this

18 x 5 + 18 x n

why? you think. in algebra, if you have a number next to a term (unsure about this meaning) then it means you are multiplying it.
eg.

5s + 3s = 16

to explain 18(5 + n) further, you are getting the 18 and multiplying everything inside it. so the 5 and n will be multiplied by 18. lets break it down

18(5 + n)

18 x 5 + 18 x n.

another example would be

10(2 - p)

10 x 2 - 10 x p

i did this, so that if there is a minus insteaed of a plus sign, you will minus it

i hope i helped :)

lol sorry didn't finish

let me finish my edit first

2. this is nearly the same as the top one.

a(b + c + d) = ab + ac + ad

you get a, then times that by everything inside the brackets.

why is it formatted like this? because in algebra, you aren't supposed use multiplication or division signs. so putting an algebraic sign infront of another algebraic sign or in front of a number, it means you are multiplying it. the fraction sign is used for division

Hello, I don't understand this problem...

You are on a three day hiking trip. The trail is 36 miles long. On the first day you hike 8 miles at 2 miles per hour. On the second day you hike 11 miles at 3 miles per hour.

Suppose you want to know how far you will hike on the third day. Identify the given information that is irrelevent to find that distance. Suppose you want to know how long you will hike on the third day. Describe the missing information that is needed to find that time

Suppose you want to know how far you will hike on the third day. Identify the given information that is irrelevent to find that distance. Suppose you want to know how long you will hike on the third day. Describe the missing information that is needed to find that time

They want you to find the info that you need and the info you don't need, right? To do this, we can start out by attempting to solve the problem.

First, we need to know how far you've already hiked, to get the distance you need to hike on the third day. We know that you hiked 8 miles the first day, and 11 miles the second day, which adds up to 19 miles total. 19 miles out of 36=17 miles left. The info I used to solve this were:

-You are on a three day hiking trip
-The trail is 36 miles long
-On the first day you hike 8 miles
-On the second day you hike 11 miles

The info I did not need to solve the problem were:

-at 2 miles per hour
-at 3 miles per hour

Then we have to figure out what information is missing that we need to solve the second problem. Since we want to figure out how long it would take to hike, and we know how many miles you need to hike, then the only thing you need to know is how many miles per hour you are walking at. So therefore the missing information is the speed at which you hike.

I hope I helped! This is my first time posting here

I discovered that the exam actually is this Friday. Please, I need help ;A;

you have to know that ionic compund and covalent do have different writings 1st.
Covalent writings will have the number of atoms (eg: Carbon (1) DIoxide (2))
But ionic do not have those things. lets move on to polyatomic.
There ARE stuff you have to remember, but breaking down your list, this is what i think can come in handy:

S(2) >Sulfide
S03> Sulfite
SO4 > Sulfate

NO3> Nitric

CH4>Methane

NH3> AmmonIA
NH4> AmmonIUM (your lsit was wrong)
---------
Those will come in handy once you remember those.
---------
You do know that all atoms are neturally chraged right?
if you do, think of cation and anion this way:

Lets imagine electrons as 'Negative thoughts'

A cation atom is an atom which have let go of its negative thoughts, because of this, it becames a happy and positive!

Anion is the opposite, it gains negative thoughts and it gets sad.

But how do oyu know which atoms are a caton or an anion?
Group I to III will be positive! While Group V (not IV) to VII will be anions!
