1000 New Top Level Domains

Not sure where to post this, or if that many people are interested, but it's big enough news for the internet to be worth talking about. It's been announced that there are going to be over 1000 new top level domains released in the next few years, and there's a lot of them.

A top level domain (TLD) is the extension at the end of a web address, such as .com .net .us .co.uk, and many more.

Personally I don't see the need for so many new ones, and judging by the sheer number of these and how sloppily past releases have been done, I think this will be one gigantic mess for the internet.

I can see a good use for some general and very wide niche ones, like .food and .kids and .help, but most of these are far too niche. How many sites out there will really be making use of .cancerresearch or .shopyourway?

More unwanted change to our beloved internet, no doubt to help draw people to paid services more easily

How the hell will it bother you outside of having to type extra letters? Like...why is it an "unwanted change?" It'd be good when we run out of other domains.

I honestly don't understand what this is, but I was surprised on how many .___'s there were, I only know of .com, .fr, .org, and a few more.

This is going to make websites look even more sketchy and look less clickable :c

It's just a way for more websites to become live because more domains will be available.

Some of them are fine to me such as .web, .online, .blog but some others just seem plain strange

It's as if part of what should be the website name is now in the extension
