This is not real important. But, it would be a nice feature. So, a reputation system would be used to tell how many likes a member gets. There will be a display on there profile that would say Reputation: 15 good or -15 for bad (this is an example). You get rep points by getting your content liked, or disliked. This would remove the spam of ^+1 or something similiar. Anyway /support /half support /nosupport /!\If you half support or no support please provide a comment/!\ Also. Are Tabs broke? I would prefer to use a reputation system as a way to encourage people to write constructive and helpful posts over using it to simply reduce spam. I think this could be useful, but at the same time I don't think these forums are populated enough to really need it. I would like it if people could hit a "useful/helpful comment" button to distinguish posts that helped them in some way. Then the author of said post can get reputation if you will. This could also work for the suggestions section, where ideas that are deemed useful may get more priority. Likewise, helpful posts on the Q&A can be encouraged. I realize this system also has its drawbacks, can lead to simply hogging likes or other forms of abuse. So yeah, I'm on the fence for this one. |

No. Can already see kiddies going around downvoting every single post of somebody they don't like. |

There would be a limit. Lets say 10 per day |

It's too easily abused. No. |

What if there was a post limit. Lets say you must have 500 posts to use the system. |

Then idiots would spam all over the place to get the ability to like/dislike. |

Oh god. Another thing to have pros brag about. No. I can't say /support. I just can't. 1. People already make fun of saves and crap if people don't have a lot, so how would it make it better with likes? 2. People could make alt accounts to make them like THEIR character. So, basically, it's unfair. 3. It doesn't need to be here. People could abuse it easily. 4. If you get in a fight with someone, in the chat, they will say "DON'T LIKE ____!" I'm sorry, but no support. There is a lot of idiots who will do these things. |

This is forums. Not in-game |

It will still be highly abused. I see it all the time with CFM's like feature. We are constantly having to remove likes from "famous" users due to someone mass-liking items ("like spam"). |

Cheesehogga a dit : You're still not acknowledging how easily this can be abused, even if you place a limit. I don't know if you're aware but alts could easily be used. It's just not viable, and it's better to skip it. |

Lemodile a dit : Just on a note about the abuse, yes there will be some. People already abuse the forums as it is and that is agiven. It is completely unavoidable. This suggestion has been on countless other forums and is constructive on every single one of them. There is little point in not at least having a trial for this suggestion to see how things work out over a specific period of time. It would be better to make use of it and hopefully have it flourish into one of few actually useful suggestions to allow criticisms of all natures than to let it die at the stage of suggestion simply because people think it will be abused. As I said not too long ago today, and I apologise for repeating myself: there are ways to limit these upvotes to a single IP address and that is what should be done if implemented. That would restrict the problem of alternate accounts being created to constantly upvote and potentially disallow upvoting a post that came from your address as well. As for the limit, I think that is useless personally as people will upvote and downvote as they see fit which is an accurate representation of how well/poorly a post has been taken. I suggested this myself a number of months back - hence the revival - but nobody really paid much heed and while I see this one in the running, I give it my full support. This is a nice feature in more serious discussion forums but I cannot see it working here. If it would work we probably wouldn't have to be discussing implementing limits to prevent abuse. I don't believe this community is mature enough for reputation to be meaningful. No support. |
