Dead Maze cancellation? |

As detailed in this thread: http://atelier801.com/topic?f=652058&t=63&p=1&d=1#m5 In the hidden away Dead Maze subforum, Dead Maze is Atelier's new game project that they've been "working on" for 1 year. Now it's been months since any update and all signs point to the game being abandoned... Unsurprising to be honest. Discuss the possibility of it being cancelled here, I'm hoping we can get some clarification from admins. (Maybe they'll announce a new game too?! It'd follow the trend) |

"All signs" feels a little far fetched. A game this heavy surely must take some time. Months, possibly even a couple years. This IS A801's first journey into Java, so it's only fair it's gonna take some time. I know that people love to hate A801 and be critical but this go around I just can't get on that boat. As someone who knows first hand what kind of work goes into programming thanks to close friends being programmers, I know that something so immersive must take time. It's not like you're losing money by waiting on this game. It's not like you paid ahead of time for it. If in the end they deserve to scrap the idea, what have you lost? At the most, another game to whine and gripe about. Dernière modification le 1454897520000 |

it still is going on, and as haru said a game takes a while to make. |

Since they recruited more admins for it (Yoshiki, and I don't know if Molgy works on Tfm or DM), I don't think the project is going to be abandoned. :p |

My reply on that thread: To be fair, the last update was right around when they admitted to pulling many people off various projects to work on getting the new Transformice adventures going. So once they get enough adventures coded to feel comfortable, I imagine they'll switch back the devs working on this, and hopefully we'll get more updates the month after they return. I won't claim to have complete faith in them, but I feel we should give them the benefit of the doubt. If we get no updates in another month or two, I'll be on your side. |

They were given the benefit of the doubt on Celousco, now it's just foolish to do so again. If what you say is the issue then why won't they communicate that? It'd take all of 5 minutes and reassure players (who I think are right to doubt their management skills after the Celousco disaster) that they haven't failed again. You don't just start hyping a new game, post teasers and mention beta keys for a few months then go dead silent, that's just terrible marketing and management. Either whoever is in charge of the marketing and project development is highly incompetent at that (very likely) or the project is gonna get axed (also likely) or both! As I said before, the survival game genre's peak has already hit and is diminishing. Atelier801 have taken so long to progress this game forward that they've missed the best time to hit that market and may well be trying to Frankenstein the game into another hot genre for more profit. Why do the admins need players to speculate excuses for them? There's a community manager employed for a reason, can't they get a statement and put away the speculation? The fact that the dead Maze subforum is STILL only advertised via a locked announcement thread and hasn't been added to the forums homepage months later only gives me more reason to see this as another failure from Atelier801. I can't imagine investors are too happy either. |

contactform a dit : I'm saying it's only been a month (not that long in the business world), and they have said that they were taking the devs off to work on adventures. So considering these, you should give them the benefit of the doubt. I agree that I wish they were better at communicating stuff, but business isn't always that straight forward. Just be patient. You claim they shouldn't hype it it and then go silent (I agree), but you also shouldn't go spreading hysteria over just a month of silence, when we know they are busy on something else. Do you like the company / their products? If yes, then try not to think the worst of them without very good reason. If no, then why are you here? |

Hi everyone, Lately we were a bit more focusing on the adventures but don't worry! Now that we have enough adventures created in advance we are more comfortable so our Dead Maze team is back to work! Don't forget that we are a small team, sometimes it can be a bit tricky to do everything at once. Thanks for your patience everyone. We didn't know exactly when we could get back to work that's why we didn't really communicate any official planning. We are trying to create a nice game that will please our players and ourselves... Hopefully you'll like how it'll turn out! |

Brandonnst a dit : Ehh. Why would you want an indie team to fail/cancel a game? That's... kinda shitty tbh. |

I can't wait for dead maze to open so we can enjoy barely any updates, 100 active users and alot of other crap like every other game (not tfm). |

Haruhitastic a dit : I seriously hated their decision to prefer quantity over quality. You get new players and yet most of them quit or go to the other game of the same platform in a win-loss relation. They got at least 1 game between the 3 ones that could have some insane potential, yet they waste their time making more one game. If that goes right, it's 4 or 5 games for a "indie" crew. I can only see how much worse it can get. |

Brandonnst a dit : The other games were more or less clones of others. How does that equal insane potential? Dernière modification le 1455141840000 |
